Burnt Oil Smell?

I have about 1800 miles on my '14 L99. Sometimes at stop lights I get a smell of burnt oil odor??? Anybody else have this issue?

Thanks

Trailnut,

I'm sorry to hear about this burnt oil smell and understand how displeasing this would be. If you'd like to consider getting an official GM diagnosis, please message me privately as I can reach out to the dealer's Customer Experience Managers (CEM) for additional assistance. Feel free to contact us, and we'd be happy to interact with you further.

Sincerely,

William R.

Trail, that smell is normal when new - it's a cross between oil and plastic. It took until about 1200 miles before that smell went away for me.

I know you're at 1800, but if I'm you, I'm giving it a little longer before bothering to take it in.

Good luck

Ok - thanks

It just started about a month ago when she had probably 1600+ miles on her. I'll give it a while.

didn't have that smell till my first oil change. now my car wreaks whenever I'm idling. Taken it in 4 times and no leaks and engine is 100% clean. been almost 1000 miles since the oil change & no one knows whats causing it. Ive contacted gm about it and they were no help. no one at the dealer wants to troubleshoot. they just dismiss the problem and say its normal when they don't see oil leaking. HAVING BURNT OIL FUMES COMING THROUGH THE A/C IS NOT NORMAL!

Normal enough, I had a similar smell for the first couple thousand miles. I traced it to something near the front wheel wells before it went away. What it was I'll never know.

Happens to me every oil change and lasts a week or two...carelessness on part of who changes the oil...but still annoying.

I have the same issue....get my oil changed at GM and they have no idea what is causing the smell. No drips, no leaks no blue smoke.....just smell...comes and goes and did not occur til after my first oil change...56,000 kms later and it still does it,

ditto. Every oil change, and it eventually goes away.

As with everyone else, I don't see anything, anywhere. So it's not just the mechanic being careless. If so, it would be visible where it was leaked and wiped (or not wiped).
