Nah. Why would a drug dealer track down a person who stole from him? I mean, drug dealers are upstanding citizens, right? They're reasonable people, right?

You just spent $1700 to get "your" car back....Good luck....Hopefully this isn't part two of a scam....What if they steal it right back and they have a bill of sale and the signed over (by you) title?.....You can't have it both ways....Your car, if everything is ok and in the plus column....Not your car, if things go south....Good luck.

If (and even according to an "attorney") all is well, just go get the car, etc., why is everything "deleted"?....
I'll stick to my original post stating that I wouldn't touch that thing for any price....It's a mess, obviously, something isn't right.... |

Just for fun, here's just one way things can go bad with unregistered cars, towing, impounds, etc...

So the OP (I'm guessing) deleted all of his posts in this thread "for obvious reasons".
I don't think the reasons are obvious. What are the reasons for the deletions?

If it were me, I would simply provide the necessary proof that I sold the car and it is no longer my responsibility. I would then resume my life just as it was the day before I got the notice.
I'm not a lawyer either, however, if I were to attempt to take possession of this vehicle in this manner, I would always be worried that the person I sold it to could simply come back with the original bill of sale. Since they had already paid me for it, I can't see how they would lose the case. The moment I signed the title as the seller, I surrender all right of ownership. If I really wanted the car back, I would let the tow lot go through their legal channels to get the car legally classified as abandoned. Once it they have that, they are now the legal owners of the vehicle. From there it is a negotiation of how much they would be willing to sell it for. They may be willing to go really cheap just to keep it easy for themselves. Either way, they could not offer at full market value until they had a clean and clear title, which they probably don't want to bother with. If I did come to an agreement with the lot on the purchase, it then becomes my responsibility to apply for a new title. Each state has their own set of rules, however, I think there is a certain common protocol, and I believe that a lawyer is required. So, after buying the car, hiring the lawyer, paying the fees and taxes...then still always feeling like I need to keep an eye on the rearview for the guy I sold it to, I'd probably wind up just wishing I had walked away. |

I deleted my posts in case the mentioned criminal who once had possession of the car started searching forums. I gave him some mods that I told him I wouldn't put back on for him and he has installed those...which means he most likely found the directions on the forum. So...I have the car...Nasty inside. Dirt everywhere, smoker, they destroyed the Hurst shifter. Personal Items inside just scream thief. Found a couple needles. They installed some audio equipment that I'll be taking out. Messed up the custon zl1 front end light harness..(why?!) Wires are cut on the harness...whole section missing...and there is a random light bulb haning that has no place. Anyways...I'll be fixing it back up and hoping the wife let's me keep it as she's sees the joy in my eyes now that it's back. If not I'll be selling

Scary but odd story. Are you sure you want to steal from a thief criminal? Those kinds of people often hold grudges, and don't abide to the law and society norms? If so not a bad deal for you, but make sure you get proof of when you took possession and gave up possession of the car originally. You do not want to be held responsible for any illegal activities it has been involved in.
