Difference on LS vs RS?
What's the difference between the LS and the RS? I've looked it up and tried doing research but don't find anything that really puts it out...

LS is the base model with v6 engine vehicle. The RS is an option across all models that gives you the high intensity halo headlights and I believe the staggered wheels.

The RS is an appearance package is available on LT and SS trim levels which include HID headlamps with integrated halo rings, spoiler, and RS-specific taillamps and wheels.

Available on the LT and SS. LS had very limited options. Had cheaper interior materials than an LT or SS from the carpet to the roof liner. RS added midnight silver 8" and 9" 20" wheels with 245 and 275 tires, painted roof ditch moldings, darker tail lights, and the HID headlights with halos. On LT models it also added a rear spoiler. On SS models a rear spoiler and 20" wheels (silver) were already included so the option was less expensive.

Chevy tossed a 2.91 final drive into the auto so they could claim 30MPG highway. Actually mid-2011 MY, IIRC. During 2010 you could add an auto to an LS with the 3.27 screw. There was no 1 or 2.

Yeah, we just didn't get rear floormats in the LS.
I love my little base model. I almost wish that I was able to get even LESS features, but I understand why manual windows aren't a thing on these cars.

funny you say that, cause that was not only the reason I went with the LS, but the thing that impressed me most with Chevy. before my camaro I've bought a lot of Japanese cars. they're great cars, albeit in a different way; but when you buy base model you don't get anything, and I do mean anything. cheap as hell radio, no Bluetooth, no power seats, no stabilitrack, no XM...............heck, some models don't even come with power windows in the base model. everything is sold as an upgrade package. technology package, convenience package etc.

Had an automatic though because they didn't sell the 3.8 turbo motor with a stick. I think they knew I would blow out the rearend with a stick. I fooled them though and blew it out with a neutral drop while still under warranty. Went through three transmissions over the life of that machine. Hydro Bob was pulling his hair out. Every mile was worth it. Speedo only went to 120 but my brother in his GTX said he was doing 130 when I passed him. God, I loved that car. 11 years and 178,000 miles, the right front upper control arm finally broke loose. We welded it up but it was time to say goodbye. Joe Dirt had nothing on me.

Odd about the floor mats.
My car has double floor mats. I have ones that say Camaro front and rear and then there is a set under those as well. I suppose they were bought as extra ones by one of the last 2 owners. Both in front have the rings on them to hook on to the floor hook to keep them from being pushed forward. I wish my car came with a story book to read. I also have a rubber Camaro trunk protector that has Camaro on it. There is other little things about the car as well. |
