ya, probably a low estimate in all honesty. Most of them have been cars I bought, rebuilt and resold. But I enjoyed most of them at least for a short time while I had them. So so many that I should have never sold, sold for tons more.... Guess thats why Im getting ready to get a dealers license Get back into buyin up cheap, old, wrecked cars whatever I can get good deals on, bring them back to life/ make them reliable again, start sellin cars again. What sets me apart from 99% of dealers though, is that I actually do go through each car I get, replace any and everything that even looks like it might be goin bad, on top of regular maintenance of everything on it. Usually gets new or at least close to new tires all the way around, cleaned inside outside and underside. Any gaskets that need replaced. etc etc, Im very particular with cars i sell. i dont sell them to get rid of a headache unless somebody comes up an just has to have it the way it is. like the 69 Grand Prix Model J...... should have finished it and THEN sold it.... But most of them I did at least drive for a while before they were taken to a new home. I'd have to dig out the list I made a couple years ago and update it to see what Im up to now. maybe someday I'll tell you what happened with my 67 Impala SS that the person I thought was my best friend trashed after a lot of work and a lot of $$$... then maybe we can all get together and find him and each take a turn beating a little sense in him. that was the car I wanted to still have when i was like 90..... sitting next to the Camaro collection....

How does one go about getting a dealer's lisence? I'm sure it's different in every state, but I don't even know where to start. The DMV in NH told me that I had to get one if I had appied for more than five temporary tags in a year. I actually hit 5 in 1998 when I was still 17(damn $200 beaters never last). I've calmed down on swapping cars, but I would love to start buying and selling again, just one at a time though.

I bought my Camaro in 1977 at 21 years of age. I have had many years to perform numerous mods on it. Looking forward to the 09. Twin Turbo set-up in a 69.

afs, i dont know what to tell you for your state, but in Kansas and here in Oklahoma, all you have to do is go to the DMV fill out all kinds of paperwork, pay the fees, apply for the licensing then keep up your records/tax documents. There may be a few more things here in Ok, but I havnt gotten that far here yet. I also have to get a rebuilders license since I plan on buying some light wrecks and rebuilding them too. thing is, I take several before pictures that stay with the car so the customer knows what was wrong and what was done. I tend to also knock the price way down on those too instead of marketing it at blue book..... I dont want cars coming back to me for anything other than trading in for another later on. I will not sell somebody a pos unless they want it like it is. I want to show people there are a couple dealers left that actually care about more than just the next sale.

Wow Merf, Brooksville was never anything but pasture land. Now on thursday night they hold the largest car show in the state. Over 500 cars which at least 300 register for prizes. It is the Spring Hill Muscle car club. We have grown into a very large club. We average 20 Camaros every thurs and almost as many Vettes.

Time to bring back an old topic.
I am still waiting to buy my first Camaro. But my first car was a 1962 Chevy II Nova, two door hardtop all original. Not the cleanest car, but I have lots of fond memories of that car.

My first F-body was a 1987 Firebird that I bought when I was 22 and in the military. It was like a rusty maroon color, not quite sure what it was called. My friend liked to call it the great pumpkin. It came with a 305, but when it blew it's head gasket my friend started chanting 400... 400... 400... After a few days of that, I said "Let's do it!" and we put a small block 400 in it. I painted it black so it would look like the original 305 (except for the harmonic balancer). That car was sooooooo much fun after that. It got totaled about a year later when someone hit me on the way to the airport. That same friend still has it's engine/transmission in a Chevelle that he built.
I bought a 1980 Z-28 with a 350 in it that another friend threw together from about 3 other cars when I was 29. It was spray painted silver, but it sounded awesome. It was amazing how many people just came knocking on my door asking if I wanted to sell it. (about once a week) I lived just off a main road and you could see it pretty well when you were driving by. I ended up selling it to a friend of mine that just turned 16 and was drooling over it. I always wanted a 1st gen, but when I saw the Concept in 2006 I knew that was the car for me. I will be buying a gen5 when I am 38. |
