no idea what other states are like though but what the ticket says IE what law you were cited for ussually has guidlines on what punishment can be levied. in my case it was VBR (viloation of basic rule) there are no bad decisions when it comes to speed. I am just glad he got me at 120 instead of 185 a mile back ha ha. you can get a lawyer like people say but at the same time if pleading guilty and not fighting it I am not sure it will have any impact. It will just add lawyer cost to the top of the fine.

^ This. They are going in dry and it's not going to be pleasant. Get a lawyer, accept any classes they offer, even some community service if will be expunged once completed if they reduce it down etc. Had a ticket that was triple digits as well. Even with a great lawyer and a clean background it was a little under 4k in fee's and two years of stupid high insurance before it dropped off my record.

Holy crap guys, its 120, not 320! believe it or not, the lines on the road still look like lines at 120. granted, the OP is a bonehead. No more or less than I am...playing with the Tesla on the highway on the way home today.
Anyone who stands here, on a performance car forum and preaches about breaking speed laws in their performance vehicle is a hypocrite. Glass houses. |

I'm sure you know Mallory lol he handled it. I got on 820 from 20 one afternoon and there was no one on the road. I took it up to 140 then shut it down, I didn't get caught though. It was about 8 or 9 years ago.

But if he had a Charger with the 6.2 Hemi and 5 speed or Caprice PPV with the 5th gen Camaro SS drivetrain, those will scoot right. |

Sure both the excessive speed and suspension made your auto insurance rates skyrocket for 3 years. In addition the points on your driving record could have easily resulted in additional license suspensions if you received any minor moving violations. While I fully admit that I don't have direct experience with a 100+ mph ticket. I have had many tickets over the past 25 years. Some I have fought and others I just pay and move on. Suggesting a lawyer in this situation is good advice.

First off, you won't be locked up unless you were written up for 23103 VC (reckless driving). And in that case, they likely would have impounded your ride.
Getting a lawyer MAY help. It depends on what section the officer wrote you for. If you have the ticket, check it out - 22350 VC (speed for conditions) is a garden variety speeding ticket. There are also VC sections for going over the posted limit, and (I believe) going in excess of 100mph. Long story short, you're probably looking at a somewhat significant fine. Depending on your record, traffic school may be an option to keep the points of your record (causes your insurance to go up the more points you have). Post up the exact VC section the officer wrote you for (or PM me) and I can give you a bit more info. You aren't the first, you won't be the last. Trust me when I say, everyone does dumb things every now and again. Live and learn. |

Believe it or not, those things have a little giddy-up. Especially in a straight line, which is a lot of the type of driving CHP does. For metro police however? Not so nice, the tranny and engine don't like the old stomp on the gas coming out of a turn.

On a side note. A officer in a Tahoe passed me today at guessing 90? in a 55 on a two lane road with no lights on what so ever. Did not even have his signal on to pass me. Don't get me wrong, I like officers for the most part, never an issue. But if any of us were to do the same... |

That sucks. I've never gotten a ticket. I hit 120 in a 45 plenty of times and don't think twice about it.
