Cold Air Inductions install question
The video on their website says to disconnect the negative lead from the battery before starting the removal of the OE air box. Is this necessary? Does the computer need to start fresh to relearn the new CAI? Just wondering. I’d rather not remove the battery terminal if it’s not necessary.

Probably a little of both, to let the ECM relearn and liability of someone disconnecting things hot. Is it the OEM offered CAI or aftermarket? I have the GM one and there is a job code to reprogram the ECM for it.

Aftermarket direct from CAI. I did the install with the battery still connected. I also did a sound tube delete and plugged the ends with 7/8” rubber chair bottom plugs.

I didn't disconnect the battery when I installed my GM Cold Air package. I had to work hard to convince people at my dealership that the reprogramming was paid for as part of the package, but they finally relented and everything is great. I'm really glad I installed it.

I did that too initially but didn't like how soft it got when it got warm. Didn't seem like it would seal good enough. So I put a hose clamp on it which looked tacky to me, and in the end I put a #4 rubber stopper in it and re-used a supplied clamp from CAI inc

I wish CAI had a sound tube delete option so the elbow doesn't have to have that ugly snout for the fitting. How about it Sales@CAI?

Whats the purpose of sound tube delete? Am I missing something. When I installed my CAI I left the sound tube in.

And I've emailed them about a new elbow so we don't have to have tacky work arounds. They were not interested at the time You'd think they would be all over it since it's their product we have on display with these tacky"fixes" at car shows, tracks, and even here on the forum. Probably doesn't look the greatest to potential customers
