When did GM announce the 5th gen?
I am trying to gauge when we will start to see facts about the incoming 6th gen and thought I could use the 2010 5th gen as a possible gauge. I know that the 5th concept was met with such a good reception that they changed little to nothing on it, when was that? I tried searching the web, and with the 6th gens being so highly researched my results are muddled. I know there are a few guys here that ordered the 5th right after they were announced so lets see who wins the first correct answer cookie!
I personally don't care what they look like, I am more curious of confirmed trim levels, engines and prices. I know they have a list from GMI, but that list forgot the TT v6 of which I have my fingers crossed for. If they in fact only turbo a 4-banger I'll be looking for babied V8's |

Well so much for that idea, unless the 6th gen is gonna come out in 2020 haha! Ill assume they didn't start taking orders until late summer of 2009 or about then? If I remember correctly the '15 will start assembly some time this month (maybe even this week?) and start hitting stealerships on or about sep-oct?

I want to say orders began being placed Oct 2008. Yep...that's right.
My CGM is the 1st off the line and the 3258th built on the line. I ordered it one week after ordering was opened and it was built March 31st, 2009. I took delivery in June (since it was in PA at Tom Henry's dealership) 2009. So...shown as a concept in 2006 in Jan. Public loved it and it had a 90% approval rating. GM said BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME!!! They went to work and voila...Camaro is shown summer of 2008 at Indy. Yep...a lot of us were there. Now...all of this, IMHO, isn't going to get you any closer to knowing when you will see some 6th gen designs FROM GM. I am pretty sure it's going to be the 2016 6th gen with some images shown in 15 and ordering opening late 2015. My guess. |

I remeber seeing a copy of a letter posted on here on C5 some years ago, it was a notice from Chevy to the Chevy dealers about the movie Transformers and they were concerned that folks would start calling the dealerships about the new Camaro, it had a rough timeline in it on when production models would start hitting dealers, did some searches but could not find it, maybe someone else remembers what thread it was in.

During/After X-mas they have a lot of the big car shows, the 2016 model plans will probably be on display then. |

I drove to Carlisle Pa (GM at Carlisle) to see the concept 5th gens the Summer of '07.
One look and I knew I would order a new SW Camaro the first day they were offered. Nuts, had to wait months before summit white was available. It's been 5 years now since my SS was delivered to me 0n 8/21/09...... Nothing but smiles.

And for the 2007 Power Tour, they brought along the concept convertible. And there were several owners driving their brand new Camaro's on the 2009 Power Tour in June. Since they were still very new to the general public, those cars drew lots of attention every time they stopped.
