Lightbulb A Great idea!

For no reason whatsoever, I thought of how cool it would be if it were possible to crack open the rear quarter windows. The way I think of it would be in the same fashion those rear minivan windows work, just pull a lever and they crack open! You heard it here first people, maybe someone will fab up something similar in the future!

That is actually very possible. The main issue would be a sturdy latch for the window, then what to do with the rubber molding around it outside.

My main thought process on the whole thing would be reducing drag when having the windows rolled down. Instead of just hitting the back of the cabin and increasing wind resistance, the windows will give a place for the air to flow through smoothly!

Also not to mention the increased exhaust note in the cabin!

The air flow theory may or may not work. Reason I say that is because I've got an extended cab pickup with little quarter windows that open like that and it does nothing to calm the airflow from bouncing around inside the cab (uncomfortable, noisy) with the front windows down.

It would be a nice thing for rear passengers to be able to get a little air back there, though. The latch would probably take up 1/3 of the view out of those tiny little windows, though!

I doubt the airflow or drag would work that way. Having said that, they probably would let some amount of air out of them so you would have a built in way to let warm air out of your car in the summer.
