Great looking picture, but you need some black lugs.
Problem solved. Gorilla Wheel Lock System, Black, Part #71643NBC. Looks way better. Torque to 122 pounds for the black rims, 110 on the aluminum ones.

Mine started the same thing last week. I thought it might be the additive, but I see that others have tried it so now I'm at a loss.

Relighting this thread...........my ZL 1 started to make differential noises at about 3200 miles when turning.

Took it to my dealer and they came up with the following service document:

#PIP5097: ZL1 Rear Differential Moan Noise On Turns - (Mar 6, 2013)

Requires total fluid drain and refill three times with specified driving requirements in between each drain and fill cycle to bring the fluid up to operating temp and scrubbing of the posi-parts. The correct fluid is GM part #88862624 which retails for about $22.00 USD for each 2.43 Qt bottle and several are used. Shop labor would have been over $300.00. Very sweet that it's a freebee under the PIP.

Routine differential fluid change is at 45k miles unless severe service is the case and then it's every 15k miles.

Hope this helps those who are experiencing similar Grannie Groans from the arse end of their ZL1's.

Cheers - Major Boyd

That sounds like what they did to mine months ago except I don't think they did the 3 fill and flush. Mine is starting to make slight sounds again, I think I will take it back to the dealer and see if they did it three times.

Mine has a slight whine when slightly letting up the throttle at 60 mph. Guess I should take it in.

What does PIP stand for?

I have the same issue. It's minor, but is an indication that something just ain't right. I might swap the fluid out myself after the 1500 mile break-in.

Why would you swap the fluid when your dealer will do it for you with two flushing refills for free? See post #45

You are right. I should clarify.
I changed it at 1300 miles because I wanted to get the metal out before I started driving hard. Nothing to do with the noise.
Now that it has a very slight whine, I might see if the dealer will do what you guys are talking about.
