Heat blowing out when climate control is off?
Lately I've been noticing that heat continues to blow out even when the climate control "power" button in the center is set to off. I usually leave the temperature dial set at 70 degrees and leave the buttons for where I want the heat coming out remain lit, so I have everything set how I want it when I press the "power" button back on. Am I missing something? Shouldn't that climate control power button override every other button that remains lit, or do I have to turn every button off?

Try pushing the re-circulation button. That's what works for me.

If you are moving and the recirculation button isn’t pressed then outside air is blowing over the heater core into the car depending on the last setting of the blend door actuator. This is completely normal and every car does this.

So what is the point of the on/off button then?

You have the controls to shut down incoming air flow and a control to allow only ambient air temp, not heated or cooled . The system works just fine, not sure what you want the heating, ventilation, and cooling system to do ?

What about the rear defogger turning itself on automatically at times upon startup? Anyone ever have that issue?

By making sure the blower fan is completely off and turning temp down to low setting , you shouldn't get anything thru the vents other than outside air temp. I agree that if you park a car with 195 degree water temp and out in the sun it will heat soak and upon start up you will feel heated air coming thru the vents until it exhausts that heated air. Make sure your recirc setting is set to recirculate outside air not inside the car air.
