Sorry but this isn't about low salaries or NC highway patrol being asses.

Do folks realize the drug trafficking that takes place up and down 95? Florida to NYC?
Folks have it all wrong, give your highway patrol a break. They have a job to do, put their lives on the line everyday.
Your highway patrol officers want to go home to their families every night just like everybody else and there are plenty of officers along 85 and 95 that didn't make it home.
Plenty of lunatics driving on these two highways, I drive up and down 85 and 95 and I've seen plenty of memorials for officers killed on the highway.
Move over, pay attention to the traffic in front of you and do what's right to protect others sharing the highway with you.
Is that too much to ask for?

This law truly makes sense and several NC Stater troopers have been killed by inattentive motorists. However, I also was victimized by a pair of troopers pulling car after car over to issue tickets. I was in the left lane on a long curve and the officer had pulled a driver to the left side. I saw the lights, but as flat as it is in NC in the northeast, it was unclear what direction OR lane the lights were originating from. I was doing an honest 54 mph in a 55 mph zone and as I approached the cars in question I slowed to about 40 mph and still got pulled. When I went to court, the officer did not show, for two months. On the third month, the officer and judge did not understand the statute, especially the "slow down if you can't pull" over and did not know if it was a moving violation or not. End result was no charge but $140 in court costs. I feel ripped because I absolutely respect the difficult job that highway patrolmen have but am totally in disrespect of this particular officer who still doesn't understand that it is not always possible to just move over under many traffic situations.

Frank......first of all thanks for your support....did you go to court, or not want to "waste time"....I would call the court and ask if the judge could "reserve judgment" or make it a "civil penalty" so it doesn't go on your record......here they can do that up to 30 days after your court date or the date you paid the ticket.....

They dropped charges and got me for court costs. No record. I have not had a ticket since 1991 and intend to keep on that track. This occurred last year. I'm retired and wanted to see this through and it's a two block walk to the courthouse. It was very educational to watch all the cases come through and think that everyone should spend some time to see what goes on in their community. I got to know bailiff and clerk quite well. They are now fellow Rotarians. Thanks for all that you do. This is an unexpectedly gracious site.

Sounds like a good idea to get a Dash Cam, front and back view.
If Cited, you would have evidence justifying your actions at the time, not just the Cops word against yours, which always ends up with the Cops word having 51% of the Vote.
