7 sp manual - gear crunch into 2nd and sometimes 3rd
When the car is cold, I experience a small crunch when shifting into 2nd, and sometimes 3rd. If I wait a second before shifting into 2nd, no crunch.
No problem with any other gears. When hot, no problem at all with 2nd and 3rd. Any one else have this problem? |

Have the same problem. Assumed it was because it was cold. As you said, as soon as the car warms up, it stops. I've also installed the skip-shift mod. Do you have that installed?

I hear that with mine as well. Had it a month. Wouldn't mind some confirmation from others that it's "normal." Glad the dealer said so. This is the first I've discussed it - I haven't asked my dealer yet.

Same with my car. Better when warm.

It may be a result of cold and thick oil in the transmission that is working against the syncros. It should disappear when the trans warms up or on less frigid mornings.

Same Problem. Wonder if there is a fix or recall?

All of the cars have this to some extent... it will improve with mileage and with temperature. My M3 was like this too and after about 4,000 miles it was WAY smoother.

I believe the transmissions are essentially the same (save the gear ratios). I really wouldn't describe it as a problem... the tranny just needs to get worked in a bit. Mine is already improving and is noticeably better in warmer weather.

This is my fifth sports car. I never had this type of problem on any of my other high end cars.

I will put $20 on the OP's car no longer exhibiting this in any meaningful way by June... assuming he is driving the car regularly

I have over 9100 miles on mine, and no "crunch" whatsoever. When cold, all I get is a little click as it goes into gear, more felt than heard. Having driven mine all winter in extremely cold temps, I never really experienced a "crunch". It was a little harder (stiff) to shift until it warmed up. I had way more noise/notchy feeling in my 2002's 6 speed manual.
