Unhappy Transmission Toast?

Posting to see if anyone else has experienced this issue. I just bought my car about 2 months ago. It has 24K miles and is well within the powertrain warranty. I was heading to a training seminar for work this morning and about half way there my car throws a CEL. A message pops up and says "service stabilitrak" and another saying "service rear parking assist." Next thing I know my transmission starts to lose torque and my car seems to be stuck in 3-4th gear(A6 btw). Fortunately for me there is a stealership on the way to this training. By the time I get the car there and to the service area, the car is hardly able to pull under its own power. Anyone have an idea what this could be? I did quite a bit of research on this car prior to purchasing and seemed like a really good deal.. I am scared I have purchased a lemon.

Your still in warranty, let the dealership take care of it and figure out what the issue is.

I hope it's something simple. I agree with Dizzy82 you still have your warranty.
Good luck. Update when you know more.

Some of the older gm stuff used to poop random stuff like this up and default to 3rd and the ignition switch was toast. Not sure on the camaro though, I haven't wrenched in a couple years.

What was the issue, and how long did it take for them to fix it?

This sounds like some sort of computer error to me. I would think if it were mechanical there would be some kind of signs of issues not just quit all at once.

I just heard from the dealer today... In his words, the transmission was "gutted"... I'm not sure what could have caused this.. I have babied the car since I have been the owner and never heard any signs of issues. I actually had the oil changed at this specific dealer not even a week before and my car received a clean bill of health. The tech is quoting me about 3 weeks to repair. They have to drop the tranny and completely rebuild it.

Man that's horrible. Hopefully they can have it done a little sooner!

I'm sure it is something the previous owner must of did to it; probably treating it like a rental. These automatic transmissions are fairly bullet-proof. I was told mine needed no mods to handle my high horsepower load at all.

Good luck and be glad it's still under warranty.

Well good new guys, I just picked up my car after work this evening. The transmission tech went to work this morning and ran his computer on the car. They found a code the car threw for being revved past 6.2k RPMs. I asked the tech how this could have happened considering I was cruising at around 2k RPMS when this happened. Tech informed me that he noticed my car is driven in the sports/manual mode a high percentage of the time and can cause this sensor to go out. I am guilty of this, so I guess sports mode is only for the track now.. The tech replaced the sensor, changed my trans oil and drove the car for a while. Its now shifting fine. Heads up for you M users out there
