I know nothing about Texas Speed headers ,I have Stainless Power 1 -7/8 with HF cats on my car ,and they sound great, look great ,work great ,and fit great . No fitment issues of any kind ,slid right in with lots of clearance for the steering and frame .

We use the TSP headers all the time and have great results. They make the same power as all the others (or within 2-3hp).....However...
If you buy the TSP's, go ahead and do yourself a favor and check clearance on the passenger side where the primaries run past the frame. We've had to clearance the last 4-5 sets we've done right there because the header hits the frame while the customer is driving. This seems to be a common flaw on the TSP's, but considering the $ saved vs. other brands I consider it a minor inconvenience. That would be the only advantage I'd say some of your other brands had is the fit is a tad better. Otherwise, the TSP is absolutely excellent for the $ spent. |

No offence to Josh and TSP ,but that "having to clearance" HAMMER TO FIT the headers is not something I find acceptable on a set of brand new headers in the 21st century . Most end users who install the headers them self would find that to be a problem. And most shops would first ask the customer if they would want the headers hammered /dimpled to fit B4 installing them .Back in the 60's this was some what more common and we had to do it sometimes on headers in the $60.00 price range Stainless Power headers are a great value ,and fit without a hammer. If you have good motor mounts and you need to Hammer To Fit then IMHO the headers are out of spec ,and the header manufacturer has a QC problem . If one brand fits without being hammered and another needs to be hammered on the same car ,then the headers are the problem . So while GM has it's own QC problems and it might be a GM QC problem ,the way to test this is to try to fit both brands on the same car and see where the fault lies . From the posts I have read ,this has been more often a TSP issue . Again I do not wish to disparage TSP ,but there are quite a number of people with fitment problems on here with TSP headers .

It's not the extra cash I'm worried about. Fit is important to me. I would also rather have 2". Dimpling a tube is wasting the fact that it's 2" pipe. So if the 1 7/8" fit without banging shit in, I'll get those. Hell, I made 754rwhp through my Pfadt 1 3/4" Tri-Y headers on my LS3 C6.

I may be wrong ,but it is less of a problem with electric steering for steering shaft clearance .But as far as the frame clearance go's there should be no issue if you have good/new motor mounts. IMHO and that is all it is , if they fit keep them ,if they don't send them back . If they are made right ,they should fit without you having to be a BLACKSMITH. Now if you can afford the Kooks , Stainless Power ,or ARH then by all means do so ,because they are pretty nice en every way . I picked the SP for my own 1LE because I only planned to keep the car 2 years and had installed them on another Camaro for a friend and they looked good and slid right in without any problem what so ever.

If money is no problem ,go with Kooks, ARH or Stainless Works 2 inchers . They look like jewelry ,and have perfect welds . I can not say they are going to make more power or last longer ,but it looks like a lot of effort went into the design and workmanship on those brands ,and it shows .

I've had Kooks that didn't fit right, so spending money for a US brand isn't necessarily the solution. My buddy had to send back some ARH's as well.
