This is just sad and is almost a slap in the face to the service men and women IMHO. The way I see it...they are making them to make money. It is cool that they are doing them in Red, White, and Blue in honor of our country and troops. But, just stop there. $500 isn't going to do anything for anyone spending $51k already.

OH WAIT!!! THERE"S ONLY 24 MADE?!?!?! Which means any dealer selling one is going to ask for another 10K over invoice per car anyways....and thank GOD I am saving that $500. since I'm in the service and can barely afford one anyway.........that'll sure help......

Sorry...there might be a few that disagree w/ me. But, I don't think $500 is cutting it for the men and women who are willing to die for you and me. Take $5,000 off if it's a service man or woman buying it. Better yet, only allow a military person the ability to purchase one.

Oh...and once again...a S/C'er found it's way under the hood...go figure.

I really do think that the funniest part of this car is that its $51k for a car that is 35hp less than the $42k GT500... and thanks to our friends across the pond at Top Gear, we know that a GT500 puts out 447rwhp, so that's a real 500bhp at the crank

if Saleen really wanted to do the service folks a favor, they'd make the 24 only available to service men and women and they'd sell it to them on a lease note that allowed them to own the car without spending their entire paycheck to own it... that stops them from selling it on the black market and keeps the vehicle true to its intent... or, as the case may be, implied intent

Yeah, not too many people in the military can afford a $51k car even with that bogus $500 rebate. That one day driving school or additional $1000 isn't much of an additional cherry either.

Even if they have a lot of money saved up from a recent deployment, I would advise my soldiers to do something more constructive with their money than to blow it on a car like this one.

This just proves that Saleen's glory days are numbered. They're reaching for every penny they can steal by offering mediocre improvements at preposterous prices. We all know that limiting production to 24 cars is costly, but the paint isn't that special (we could all do this at the shop for less), the supercharger is basically a bolt-on (most of us could do this one ourselves with a manual), and the overall effort in building a quality car is obviously lacking (gone are the days when Saleen would swap a good motor or do something even more creative). Saleen has failed the new Mustang and all of its Ford enthusiasts. Maybe it's time to say goodbye to Saleen.

This kind of makes me glad that Chevy doesn't have a Saleen-like entity right now. They can't make big mistakes like Saleen.
