and no it's really not that hard to break 200 anymore the cars now have sick amounts of HP. hell we have 6 750-1500rwhp GMs (4 Camaros and 2 CTSVs) in my small club alone all are capable of smashing 200 with no issues. Don't even get me started on 1000cc Sportbikes which have been capable for years lightly modified.

200 is not the barrier it once was.
Nobody's talking about modded cars, and there are several people around here that bought gt500's for MSRP. Oh and if you call buying 35 to 75 thousand dollar cars and dumbing in enough money to make 750 to 1500HP easy then you must be very well off. Most people don't find spending that kind of money easy. Name one other car that will push 200MPH for that cost. The ZL1 is the next closest one and that's about it. Either way I don't understand why people come into a car forum just to throw stones especially when they have their facts wrong. It just makes them look like a looser. Sorry OP but you are one big fail in this case.

Well off? not really myself and my GF work very hard for our toys.
but we do everything as a team.

Neither one of us want kids or family to tie us down so we have a lot more disposable income than those that do.

It does not take much at all to get an SS to that barrier.
at the stock speed gov on the LS3 it still wants to pull more.
Now are we talking capable of 200mph or capable of 200mph in a standing mile.. there is a BIG difference.
many Camaros are capable...
very FEW are capable of 200 in a standing mile..

Lets be honest, to make a 200 MPH Camaro and do it reliably is going to cost far more than the entry price of a new GT500 and please don't bring any bullcrap markups into it because anyone paying markup is crazy and the car can be had for markup or considerably less.

And why are we discussing 200mph in a standing mile? I'm thinking the Gt500 is a low 180 car in the mile, maybe slower than that.

And mine was 56,xxx with Recaros. I've seen ZL1s in the 70,000 range too, but I'm not using a markup to try to discredit a claim.

Looked like about 193 to me. It is a wickedly fast car, despite its detractors.
