Arrow What’s the highest ODO reading you have seen on a 5th gen?

Hello guys,
First I want to introduce myself. I’ve been following this forum since late 2011, wishing for my dream car, but ended up buying a new Hyundai Santa Fe in 2015

Now, I’m back in the market for a used Camaro for under 20k. It will be my DD. I specifically want a 2013 2LT RS. In my understanding, 2013 was the first year that came with MyLink, new rear view mirror, and touch screen, which was also the last year with the original design. I very dislike the design of 2014-2015.

I see a lot of cars with mileage ranging between 50k-130k miles. Assuming they all have the same trim level, RS package, clean titles, no major accident, non-rental, I see a recurring theme of $1k for 10,000 miles.

Example:
80k miles = $14k
100k miles = $12k
120k moles = $10k

So here’s the question: What’s the highest ODO reading you have seen on a 5th gen Camaro? I don’t want to save $4k, buying a 120k miles car, just so I can retire it at 150k miles.

My first car when I was 18 was a used Mazda 626 with 150k miles on it. Drove it for 4 years, til its last day, ~200k miles. I did spend some money fixing it, but nothing major.

Thank you everyone in advance.

The guy in this vid had 184,000 but I'm sure there are others with even more.

I valet cars at a hospital. Drive a 2010 1ss l99 yesterday. 220k miles on it. Woman drives a lot she said, obviously. When I started the car 7 hours later to bring it back to her, the lifter Tao was horrendous. I didn’t even wanna drive it.

I never considered Chinese philosophy when it came to the valve train but I suppose there is some Yin and Yang going on when things are just right.

The highest I've seen was a little over 160K. However, following proper servicing schedules and keeping the car in good shape, these cars can and should still be running strong well over 200K miles.

If she has 220k on the stock AFM lifters that's impressive! Lifter tick or not.

OP, these LS engines are darn near bullet proof. Yes some have some issues, but you'll see that with any car. The 5th gen Camaro is rated as one of most reliable vehicles of this era.

The V8s are great engines, I have the LS3 and I love it. Since you are talking about the V6 though, I know one guy who has a V6 and after buying it used, he had to put a new engine in it a couple of months later. There have been a few V6 members on here who have had their engine crap out after 100k.

You can find some 2010s for pretty cheap, so I would save a bit more and pick one of those up if you can

Damn LS3 vs LFX? You guys got me thinking now

How bad is the MPG on an LS3? I’m getting this car to use as my DD, so MPG will play a role here.

It depends on your modifications and how you drive. Highway i get about 22-24 mpg city it depends on traffic but 16-18. I DD mine and I put about $25 in a week of Premium (I have a tune) and That usually lasts me a week of driving back and forth to work.

I have seen people post on here that they are getting 24mpg avg on highway trips in the LS3. I am currently averaging 21 city\hgwy in my LFX.
but I drive it kinda hard daily.

But, if you plan on buying a V6, with a question in your mind about anything but practicality, then just stay the heck outta here! These guys will make you regret that V6 purchase everyday!

V6 has plenty of power for a DD if you're worried about that. Mpg wise I doubt the ls3 is to much worse but it requires higher octane fuel increasing cost

Very afraid so. I’ve seen so many V6 shaming posts throughout the years
