Sooo.....most random question ever. A buddy of mine has a 01 WS6 M6 with FBO...he has always wanted to get a 5th gen and he is willing to trade up his 4th gen for my 5th gen and he will keep making the payments. Ive never had a 4th gen F body, am I crazy to wanna do this?!

While the WS6 is a pretty sweet ride, I wouldn’t trade a 2013 1LE for it.
You’re talking about trading (down) in my opinion, to a car that’s going on 17yrs old. Are you crazy for wanting to do that? Yeah, you are. |

I had a cammed 99 T/A, it was definitely a blast to drive but there's no way in hell I'd take it over my 1LE. Working on that motor was a PITA, especially installing headers or swapping plugs. You may as well be blind.

Nice TA! I'm starting to think that something was wrong with the TA because he was also willing to put some cash down. I evaded lol. Might just get a clean 4th gen later on, if I can find one

I've been reading through some brake info since I'm about done with the brakes on my car. I dont track it at all, and I've been driving it on weekends only. So I purchased autozone Duralast GT pads along with their Duralast Gold rotors. My initial thoughts on the products are they they look great, but of course I won't find out till I get them installed to see how they compare to stock. At least the box where the pads come in is nice, it even has a bed of foam to protect them. Rotors seem to have some carbon construction, lets see how that works out.
Hopefully I didnt mess up with this purchase and should've just saved a little more to purchase OEM pads and rotors. I will be installing these tomorrow and I'll be back with a small review of the product

I was driving off from work and I heard a loud pop followed by something rolling off. Turns out my left foglight fell off from its place....do the ZL1 fog lights need retainers? It looks like it plugs into the bumper, but now I'm not so sure...I've looked but only find info on drl's retainers.

Alright, so I finished up the install for the front brakes. I was a bit skeptical about how it would feel replacing the OEM stuff with Autozone stuff, but...I really like the quality of it.
So my initial impression from the rotors was that it seemed like they had some scratches, dings, etc...took me a while to realize that it was a protective coating...not the same coating that you clean off with brake cleaner though, I tried that and it didnt remove it. So I installed them like that. The pads seem great, I've seen ceramic and semi-metallic...the material on these felt/looked different. Must be that carbon material in them. They slid into the calipers with no problems. On to the bed-in process/test drive. I felt that the brakes were rubbing a bit, I made sure that nothing was rubbing when I installed them. Turns out that the coating on the rotors was coming off every time I was braking...duh. Lol. Scared me a bit there, hopefully that coating doesn't mess up the pads. I might have had to get the rotors turned, but I have never done that with other rotors I've installed in the past. That rubbing feeling went away as soon as the rotors were clean from the coating so I went home to let them cool off. I couldn't brake them hard for obvious reasons but they seem to stop way better than the OEM, feels like they are biting down every time I stop, but that might be because the old stuff was worn down. I suppose that I need to get more seat time to actually notice the difference
