Tire Questions
Want to purchase new tires for my 1le but not sure what to buy. I want to do 305 in the rear with a good sidewall and 285 in the front. any suggestions on sizes and what brand tires?
Thanks! |

Stock G2 , stock size. The correct size and OE fitment is what makes the 1LE handle the way it doe's .

After EXTENSIVE research and a bazillion thread discussions here on C5, BF Goodrich came out on top as the best overall tire.
I’m doing Nittos now for performance tires which are arguably tied for first after EXTENSIVE reading and partaking of discussions of many tire threads on here. Now that’s not to say we haven’t ignited yet another tire discussion, so FLAME ON! |

Depends on what you intend to use your 1LE for.

I made the stupid mistake of 325 rears and lost the handling it had. Going back to 285 F1's all around next time !

I destroyed my first set of GY F1's with in 10k miles. Great tires for the track. My 1LE is a summer driver/track car, and if the roads had even a drop of water on them the F1's acted like I was on ice, couldn't stand it.
I switched to Michelin Pilot Super Sports, went 285 in the front and 305's on the rear. Have around 8k miles on them, great tire. Not specified as good on the track as the F1's, but no noticeable difference at my skill level.

My buddy runs those. Nothing but good things to say. However, I'm a no need to fix it if it ain't broke kind of guy. Some track time (road course), lots of spirited back roads twisties for me. I keep going back to OEM GYs with 285s all around

As a "do-it-all except the cold" tire, the G2s can't be beat in my opinion.

The difference in performance is night and day. The G2's are certainly more economical though. |

I'm looking for a street tire with more grip. I will only drive my 1LE in the summer and up into mid/late fall. Does anyone have any feedback for the RE71R as a street tire?
Has anyone also dropped down to an 18" wheel and run the Federal 595RS-R(R)?

Agree with Billy for the most part, but am always looking for a better alternative for a street/track driven car (I'm just not in the mood to change a set of tires every race day). I'm on my second set of GY2's with 7K on them, and think I could get another 7K-10K out of them safely.
