Convertible Production

Anyone have any insight on when vert production will actually start?

You are asking the same question I have been asking since I have had a deposit on one since early August. Chevrolet tells me they will arrive at dealerships in late 2013 and early 2014. This means they need to begin production next month in November. I have talked to one of the largest dealers and he says November production. I hope they are right.

The approx. 900 initial authorized dealers were told and provided allocations last June. You should have been provided an order number by now. I was provided an order number within a week of my deposit using the one and only vert allocation my dealer had at that time. I am sitting at "Chevrolet accepted order" but since production has not begun it will not go anyplace yet. Be sure your dealer has a vert allocation now or are you simply made to wait until someday when he has one?

When I put in order at Kerbeck, I was put on the list. Each week when they get the allocation, they put enter the order based on the position in line. I was a little bummed that I didn't have an 'order number' from day 1.
The reason why is so that the customer can easily make any change all the way up until the last minute. On Sept 13th, I was notified that my allocation was there, and that the CF Roof would cause me to sit for a while, unless I wanted to change. He also noted that there were some additional options that weren't available yet when I first put up deposit. I emailed him the changes and my car was in production two weeks later.
I thought having an actual order number would give me piece of mind, but in fact, it all depends on the allocation and how much you trust your dealer to be straight about that. (just my 2 cents worth)

When I ordered. I was told I was #3 for vert. When I checked with them, they had only gotten 2 vert allocations so I am next. Unless someone is taking money under the table to move people up, why not believe the dealer and if they are how will I ever know?

I put a deposit down on my convertible on May 10th. My order was their 1st convertible order. It went into the system Aug 8th. That is when I got my order number. It went 2000 on Sept 3rd, 3000 on Sept. 14th, and 3300 on Oct. 25th. I hope it will be made in 2 or 3 weeks or sooner. This dealer had an allocation of 66 cars all total. They have about 5 coupes in stock for sale.

mine is. still 3100 although I expect it to move and be built this month according to my dealer.
if you were 3000 before a constraint hit, your order isnt affected.

I put my deposit down in July for a Z51 vert. I have my order number and still sitting at 2000 the last I heard. If my order starts to move and no Z51's are available I will have to get my deposit back and start over as my local dealer only has one vert allocation currently. This whole thing is a bummer.

Something is going on with my order. I have been at 3000 almost since day 1 in late August. The dealer called to confirm that I wanted the car. He said that because the order had a "sold" status that it would be produced early. Was at a Corvette factory event last week and spoke to two of the factory reps who attended. They would not commit to any 'vert production dates. I do understand that 50 have already been built but for testing not distribution. Any other news out there? GolfGuy
