z/28 Shocks

Are the z/28 shocks going to be available by order as a GM performance part?

I was wondering if the z/28 multimatic shocks will be available as a stand along part that could hypothetically be installed on a 1LE since I'm pretty sure several other components from the 1LE suspension are used on the Z/28.

Is there any reason that this wouldn't be possible?

Thanks for the input!

They likely will be but my question is will they work well with the SS/1LE springs, the spring rates are very different compared to the Z/28.

I'd think you would need the shocks, springs, subframe bushes, sways and tires to get adequate results.

I'm curious about this. I'm sure the shocks and springs will perform well(functionality) and am curious as to the weight difference between the springs and shocks vs the base SS.

Just remember that the DSSV setup is calibrated around the Z/28 wheels and carbon-ceramic brakes. The increase in unsprung weight on the SS/1LE Camaros will result in a very poor match for the DSSV as calibrated. All IMHO, of course...

Someone may offer the opportunity to calibrate the shocks to meet the 1LE springs/chassis. Since they would need to be highly trained which equals high costs, this would be slim to no chance.

I thought those shocks weren't tunable? Maybe I misinterpreted something in all the Z/28 stuff I've read, but that's what I took away from it.

A lot was written about how much the Z/28 engineering team "tuned" the shocks. They worked closely with Mulitmatic, and the spool valves were modified and changed until the team was satisfied.

I have no idea if it would be possible for a user to change the valving to adapt the shocks for their specific car and use scenario...
