I'm running a 9" and my car is lowered. Only issue I've had is with the axles and I've had people claim it is due to the angle of the CV's once lowered. What issues are you having?

I'm hoping mine was just a fluke and not a regular thing.

Hmmm...your story sounds strangely familiar. I've had my axles replaced a couple times and am afraid the current pair are in the same boat.
