Just installed 4.11 gears

So i had to post my impressions of the 4.11 motive gears. Quick overview of my car. 2015 2ss dynatech 1 7/8 LT, cai inductions with scoop, tuned 435hp/447tq. I decided to not go with trutrac because honestly im going to probably end up swapping in a 9 inch and I didn’t wanna waste more money on this housing. But anyways, the gears are QUIET AND DRIVES BETTER. The car no longer bucks at low speeds, i can use 5th and 6th far more often. Whats crazy is with the stock 20 inch rims, the shift points are 1st 43mph 2nd 62mph 3rd 90mph 4th 128mph. That is exactly the shift points in my old 4th gen z28 with 16 inch rims and 3.46 gears. I couldn’t be happier. This car pulls better in every gear. 5th gear is literally what 4th use to be. Which is crazy if you think about it. The car’s top speed was probably in 4th gear with the old differential. The car was a 4 speed with 2 overdrive gears. I highly recommend it. I can’t believe how much easier the car is to drive now around town and even cruising on the highway is better because you can just keep it in 6th and pass cars.

Awesome
I’m always on the boat on changing gears. I’m NA now but want to procharge it in the future and those high ratios might be too much then.

Welcome to the club. 4.10s should be one of the first mods anybody with an M6 car does. Essentially no downsides, and a lot to really enjoy!

That’s what I would go with and seen people say that still too much and had to go back to original

Just recently got my 4.11/4.10 and true trac broken in and it is a world of deference and that coming from 3.91 craziest part I get better mpg now than I did bone stock.

4.10/4.11 gears are THE must have mod for a bolt on M6 car. World of difference when I installed my Motive 4.11's. Yours don't whine at all though? Mine whine more than my ex, especially in 4th and 5th. Not sure if it's my diff bushings causing the sound to travel more or they're not installed properly. Had mine professionally installed

I think I'd end up hurting myself changing gears as i don't drag the car at the track. But if i could hook it sure would be fun lol

I believe 1le and zl1 5th gens and all 6th gen camaro v8 manuals have that insane tall geared transmission. That trans has a HUGE 5th gear so most guys dont want 4.11s because they don’t want to be shifting into 5th at the end of the track. With 3.91 gears the 6th gen guys can do almost 190mph in 5th gear. Thats why they stay away. 5th gen ss camaros are totally different. My 4th gear’s top speed is 128-130 and 5th gear’s top speed is 155-160 now. So with our trans, even if you’re trapping above 130 in the 1/4 mile, that 5th gear isn’t going to kill your time. But you need to be approaching 800 horsepower to even get to 130+mph trap speeds. I think if you go centrifugal supercharged like a procharger, gears would be a great mod to go with it. Itll help you get to to higher rpms to get quicker boost. Just my opinion.

That’s exactly what i thought but whats crazy is these gears have made the car a better street car. The 20 inch rims with 3.45 gearing makes this car a 4 speed. With gears, you’re able to keep it in higher gears and accelerate adequately in the street. I do a lot of city driving and i found it to be an absolute pain the way the car bucked. It really is a great all around mod. Not just for drag racing. The best part is now when you do have fun, you’re no longer doing almost 80mph when you shift out of 2nd.

Yea but at my power level traction will become even harder. I already fight traction in 2nd with 305's and sticky tires. On a slick at the track yea, but I street drive.

My friend who runs 9s launches his car in 2nd gear with 3.73s in a strange 9 inch. Maybe you’ve reached that point too.

YES...but 1st gear becomes pretty useless, no traction and really quick shift. I had the ECS Paxton setup on my 2010 w/ 4.10's (DSS 9")...it was damn fun though.

I think it just all comes down to goals. Are you trying to build a fun car to drive in the street or attempting to set records at the strip. I can only imagine how much fun these cars are with that setup. Probably a blast. I plan on doing the ecs 1500 kit with meth in the future but im pretty torn over trying to build a 500+whp n/a setup instead because this is a pure street car for me. Right now full bolt on with 4.11s is seriously fun to kick around town in!
