Directional pad

Just a thought, as the younger generation of corvette buyers (or any vehicle for that matter) gets older. Shouldn't the D-pad be on the other side of the wheel? I really wish my equinox had a d-pad in it, but I think it would feel a little more natural if it was in my left hand. Select can stay on the right, but the D-pad needs to move...

Anybody else? Thoughts? Hell no? CC you're crazy?

Cruise has usually been on the left side on most newer GM vehicles, so I imagine that's the reason for the pad being on the right.

Do you think it would be more comfortable or more natural if it was on the left? I understand that is the way it's always been. The windshield wiper control used to be an industry standard as well.. Now it has it's own stick on the right.

Technically, as we have more and more displays in these cars, you can still control the cruise with the D-pad. Press or say cruise control, then the D-pad turns into the obvious controls. Up, increases speed, down decreases speed, left cancels. All can be shown on a heads up display.

I know that some of the controls on vehicles today leave me feeling that it could be better. I'm just throwing a thought on the table.

D-Pad on left would 100% be much much more natural.

I'm 23 and from nintendo 64 (the first system I ever got) to xbox 360 (what i have now) D-pad has ALWAYS been for the left hand.

BTW, props on the great observation. Never would have thought of it if you didn't mention it.

Eh. I'd take it on the right. Just used to cruise being on the left.

The inherent key difference is this is not an action video game requiring continuous use of the control pad... the Stingray's D-pad is to navigate/choose periodically when needed. Most of your seat time will be focused on driving the... so on that note, this isn't an overly significant letdown. I'm also used to the CC on the left side of the steering wheel (like on my SS and Boss) and I'm glad it remains status quo on the

Still a good observation though!

Plus, the d-pad on game controllers typically aren't used all that much (at least in the games I play), so I really doubt it would make much of a difference.

Maybe all of the steering wheel buttons should be user configurable

Actually I think the biggest thing for me is the speedometer off to the left there. That will take some getting used to, although you do have HUD and a digital speedometer in the reconfigurable center screen.

Analog Speedo on left (or right) side is perfectly fine. I like the Tach right where it is... large and dead center. Because Sports/Race car inspired & configured.

I kind of wish the entire gauge cluster were a configurable TFT display.

Then I'd like to see Chevrolet create a program for your personal PC (or Mac) where you can customize every aspect of what's displayed on the cluster, upload the customization file to a USB thumb drive, and be able to upload it to the car from the on-board USB plug.

Of course, the program would have to have some safety checks that would force every display to have certain gauges shown somewhere on the display at specified sizes before the file could be saved and transferred. But could you imagine people freely sharing their custom display setups online?

I'm on board Scooter, but there are still some people that like to watch that needle fly.

My cluster would have a speedometer in the middle, Scarlett Johannson on the right, and Lindsy Fonseca on the left.

Puhlease, Kate Upton is a whole set of gauges by herself

"Gauges" have been basically idiot lights for years. Unfortunately, attempts at full digital dashes in the past have been met with more than a little resistance . (e.g. C4). I do like the bar graph tach layout shown so far and I think the HUD will be a HUGE improvement over the C6's.

Love the optional HUD on the Camaro 5th gens... configurable to show the tach, speedo, etc... I anticipate the C7's HUD will be much better.
