Ummm.....YES

The only similiarities are the long hood/short rear deck styling.

I wouldn't say they look COMPLETELY different. I mean both being pony cars they are going to share, as moose already said, the long hood and short deck similarities. But I would say the 5th gen has MANY more similarities to the 1st gen camaros than it does the Mustang.

OK. Comparing the two more closely, I do see more similarities.

But as Casull said, I see more similiarities between the 5th Gen. and the 1st Gen. Camaro. But, whereas Ford has gone more "retro" with the current Mustang, Chevrolet has incorporated styling cues from the '69 w/o going full-on retro.

I've seen images of the "new" Mustang due out around 2010, and it looks very similar to the concept Camaro!

Styling aside, I will enjoy seeing these two go at it in the future.

Nothing alike except for the short deck, long hood. All else different.

I've come across a few people that tell me 'it looks exactly like the Mustang'.

Similar, perhaps. But, then again, back in the 60's they were very similar also... (At least imo they were.)

I'm currently looking at images of the two; exterior and interior. The few similiarities I see are:

Interior-wise, you could say the dashboard gauge layout appears similar; ie; separate gauge pods for the speedo and tach.

Exterior-wise, IMO, as I stated earlier, the only similiarity I see is the long hood/short rear deck.

Having seen both in person confirms my belief that they look entirely different.

They were similar back in the day as well. But similar is as far as it goes, and thats not saying much, alot of cars are similar.

Question

Not to change the subject or anything, but am I the only one here who noticed the "August 2006" date stamp on the article that started this thread?

I'm as psyched about the Camaro's resurrection as anyone, but I am curious why this (and only this) particular media outlet would pick up on the impending "announcement".....

A muscle car is a muscle car - that means the Rustangk too, we must show it what little respect it deserves...it has come a long way in design from 2000, you know, a little credit, maybe?

I just have a special place in my heart for all american cars. Ford's, Dodge's, and Chevy's alike...
