a speed limit on a race track makes it just a normal road that goes in a circle.

The Nurburgring- not just Nordschleife- has been changed many times. As racing has evolved, so too did the track.

However chicanes used to be the response, not speed limits.

Maybe ban flat bottom cars.

That little"ädd on" clearly cause that car to get airborne after that brow the air had nowhere to go but to cause more lift.

Maybe ban spectators from certain high speed areas or replace the "Ring" with something cooler like Mosport

Speed limits on a race track... That doesn't sound like FREEDOM! Sounds like America needs a new track!

It would be cool if someone built a ring replica somewhere in America.

Sounds like Circuit of The Americas needs to step up and offer official testing times!! If F1 uses it,surely it would be sufficient for testing of high powered consumer cars.

VIR has been called the Ring in America and is open to the public. I may end up taking my 6th gen there once I get one.

Well considering times are no accurate, mods are not monitored, no real rules, it's not a bad thing. If manufacturers want to show times, then use USA tracks and set official regulations and rules so that all play by the same standard.

its not just for US cars. almost every car manufacturer has done testing and development at the ring.

They all put there ring time, but there is no regulations. So who knows what was done to the car to reach that time.

Quick someone build a nurburgring clone in America and have it built at the same altitude as the original. If this ban does actually come about then we will just have to take our lap times else where. All they had to do is fix the safety issue and they would be fine, but no they obviously had to ban all lap recording. The track will be a thing of the past if the ban passes.

Works for me. Would love to go check out prototype cars on a day off.

The track doesn't exist just for recording manufacturers' lap times; this turn of events will not be the decisive factor for the track's future. They have bigger fish to fry.
