I bought a ZLE wing and don't trust the acrylic double sided tape that comes with it to attach the winglets. Any recommendations on permanent plastic to plastic epoxy?

I'll chime in first. This is easily the most durable, weather-proof epoxy I have used. Long working time.

You’ll be fine with the tape. use an epoxy and if it ever breaks and you need to get it off you’re gonna ruin the fender… The key with the tape is to make sure you have an absolutely pristine clean surface that’s been rubbed down with alcohol.

3M makes an adhesion promoter that works great for things like that. It's much better than alcohol.

I have window vent visors held on with 3M tape that haven’t budged a millimeter in the 17 years I’ve had my truck. Wind, ice, automatic car washes, no problem.

Often times, adhesion promoters will soften the clear coat / paint - I would stay away from them in most situations unless there is a specific need.

OP - My side skirts are held on solely with 3M 4922 tape and haven't budged at all. These things are like 7 feet long and are subject to deflection forces from air moving around the car at speed. Here are some tips when gluing items like this:

- Ensure that all surfaces are clean, dry, and smooth
- Ensure that you "get it right" the first time - don't touch the pieces together, pull them apart, etc.
- Ensure that you apply sufficient pressure to promote adhesion
- Add heat if you're able (I used a hair dryer to keep the rockers / skirts warm for over 20 minutes once I installed each skirt, and I kept pressure on the pieces to hold them together).
- Don't drive the car for up to 48 hours after installation (look up the details of how long it takes for these tapes to fully cure) of everything to ensure that the adhesive on the tape can fully meld itself into place before air movement starts applying opposite pressure on it

The 3M tape is VERY strong, I have a trailer where that tape holds all of the outer skin together!!!! You would destroy the skin before the tape fails!!!

I have used 3M brand adhesion promoter exclusively for many projects over the years, including my Camaro, and it has never softened the clearcoat.

If the vehicle or part has been repainted with some cheap paint, then all bets are off. I've only used it on factory OEM paint and high quality prepainted aftermarket parts. Never had a problem.
