2017 Camaro ZL1 OR the 2017 Corvette Grand Sport
Now that the order form and pricing has been determined by GM for both the 2017 Corvette Grand Sport and the 2017 Camaro ZL1 which car would you purchase and why??
It appears to me that the ZL1 Camaro MAY BE the best all around car for the money. However, I realize that the decision and analysis might be somewhat subjective. I am interested in everyone's opinion and analysis. THANKS |

ZL1 is the best Camaro at the moment with most HP.
Grand Sport is not the best Vette. It's a poser wanting to be a Z06... It's a "wanna be" car... Get the ZL1! Best bang for your buck!!!

We optioned a 2LT grand sport, and by the time we were done with options, it was at $96K. That's Z06 money for NOT a Z06.
So we're going with ZL1 instead.

From what I read in all of the publications I have come across is that the ZO6 is a handful to drive on the street or the track because it just can't put the power down to the ground effectively. I will run you into a wall or off a cliff in a heartbeat, someone once put it. This would steer me away from it, but who knows, it may be a great car. People are certainly driving them every day.
The ZL1 with the added weight may be able to to put the power down better and is 20k cheaper than the ZO6 and some 15 cheaper than a Grandsport with a few options and nearly 200 less HP. No thanks |

Yeah, I'm having a hard time deciding as well between getting a 2017 Camaro ZL1, 2017 Corvette Z51 or a 2017 Grand Sport next spring. It's really a tough decision! I'm leaning heavily toward the ZL1 though....

The thing that the ZL1 REALLY has going for it in a comparison like this...is that it's loaded with convenience and tech equipment that you need to pay extra for in the Corvette.
If someone is looking for a track toy - there's a hard argument to be made for the Grand Sport in base trim....N/A engine, super-track-tuned suspension setup, low cG, less weight.... |

And what did the Z06 that you spec'd out equally come to?

I'm a much bigger fan of the gen 6 ZL1 looks over the c7 Z widebody. Don't get me wrong
the GS is nice looking, but nice for other people to own and me to just look at once in a while. Where as the ZL1 is something I would want to own and drive myself. |

It's going to be interesting when they are all available to test drive and we get some true driving opinions.
The Z06 is NOT a handful to drive on the street. It's a LOT of car, and you can't be an idiot driving it, but with the grannies left on and if you keep your hands on the steering wheel, it doesn't just make turns into walls! There will be lots of - "you can only compare the Z06 against the ZL1", because they are both 650hp cars. Really not true. Just for 0-60 times, great resource: http://www.zeroto60times.com/vehicle...-60-mph-times/ 2017 ZL1: 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, and 1/4 mile in 11.4 seconds 2017 Grand Sport: 0-60 in 3.6 seconds, and 1/4 mile in 11.8 seconds 2015 Z06/Z07: 0-60 in 3.0 seconds, and 1/4 mile in 11.0 seconds 2016 Z51: 0-60 in 3.7 seconds, and 1/4 mile in 11.9 seconds 2013 ZL1 (vert) 0-60 in 4.0 seconds, and 1/4 mile in 12.3 seconds |

It really comes down to what you want, honestly for me I would probably pick the Grand Sport Corvette over the ZL1 Camaro......
The Grand Sport with the Z07 package as tested by Car and Driver put down an impressive performance. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...al-test-review 0-60: 3.8 seconds 0-100: 8.7 seconds 0-120: 12.9 seconds 0-150: 24.1 seconds 70-0: 129 feet skidpad: 1.18Gs The Grand Sport as I would option it would only have the Z07 package, comp. seats, and maybe a wheel options comes up to $77,500 bucks. Also Katech advertises a package for $9,000 gets you 600BHP and 523ft-lbs of torque from the LT1 engine if you really wanted more power. |
