Question ADM L99 Stall / Cam

Hey guys, been lurking around and read TONS from this website. Wanted to ask a few questions.

For the l99 guys with the ADM LSA blower kit, what cam did you use?

Are people using VVT cam's in conjunction with the LSA blower? Is it more optimal then a full on LS3 conversion? in regards to a stock block application.

What kind of Stall's are optimal for a cam lsa blower?

I have some money saved up and as soon as i can pull the trigger on a LSA blower i want to order the ADM install kit and look for cam options.

Just trying to do some homework.

My goals are to go 10's stock block with the fit and finish of a OEM style blower.. hopefully 600+ RWHP on 91 octane.

Car as it sits right now is just a 2" LT 3" straight pipe no cats car with a tune vararam. with a Tune.

Pedder springs and sways + rear cradle bushing

I'm using the LS9 cam and GMPP heads. Low boost and making just over 570 on pump gas. Car runs like stock. I can't wait to get it to the track!

VVT for me. No AFM/lifters. Get a blower spec'd cam. No issues with mine outside of the cold idle. I currently have a GPI SS1 but that will give way to a BTR PD Stage 1 VVT cam. Runs strong! Low boost also. I did the install on mine. Great kit..

I'm in the same boat as OP.

With adding the LSA s/c is there a benefit of doing the LS3 conversion?

No need to move to LS3 specifically. Staying VVT isn't a bad idea.

And what about stall converters? Reason I ask is there is a 3400 stall available locally at a KILLER price. Its a yank 3400 for a 6l80e. Do you guys think thats too much stall for a blower cam application on a lsa blower?

Depends on the cam really. My SS1 idles pretty good, but stall will take care of most 'cam' surge when slowing down to a stop.

You don't need a really big cam in the LSA SC upgrade. VVT works really well with the blower -- no issues there. Cam spec is more important.

NA -- bigger cam and stall is important -- not so much with the blower (A6 I'm speaking of since were talking VVT).

BTR PD Stage 1 spec in VVT is what I'm getting -- I could go Stage 2, but idle quality is important -- don't want to add a converter -- Stage 2 would be getting a bit more like the VVT SS1 I have -- and its not bad, but with this blower, even the SS1 is a bit more cam than needed. The SS1 idle hot is not bad -- little lope -- does not stall @ all when hot -- but cold, yes it will stall so you do need to warm it up @ least 2 to 3 minutes before even attempting to put it in drive or reverse...

Ryan (GPI) and I experimented with it -- and Ryan has it dialed in as good as you possible can...

I have to agree. GM made a pretty decent cam for the LS9. If it was me, I'd go with what makes you have more confidence. Follow your builders ideas that has results that are consistent. Andy has pushed me in the right direction and I'm pretty damn happy.

Yes sir. Looks awesome when people see it. I put the LSA cover on also. Dress it up with a little red.

Of these cams which do you recommend for stock like drivability, idle below 800rpms yet still make 560-575rwhp?? Or am I asking too much.

I like my NA cam, but I am 52 now and the 950rpm idle and sewing maching sound is getting old...

This is for an M6 SS too...

Juice's Signature block answered my question:

2011 2SS Black/Black
ADM LSA kit, GMPP heads, LS9 cam, SP 1 7/8" LTs, Magnaflow 3" cat back, ADM CAI, ADM Tuned, DriveShaft Shop DS, ADM Cooler, 3.45s
572/512@PG 599/550@RG Runs just like stock. Full throttle is a different story.
