Those fanatical about change (progress/progressives) always infuriate those fanatical about tradition (conserving what has worked). Like two wolves and the one who wins? The one the most people feed. You will soon learn who has the majority.

i believe there is room for both technologies.just as in the early 19th century when cars became available, not everyone switched right away.it took a while to aquire the infastructure to support ICE engines.back then gas stations were in limited supply as charging stations are now,but did the government bankroll all the gas stations that were built?pretty sure the answer is no.i do believe that a large percentage of people are curious about electric cars and the supposed lack of maintenance associated with them.if the government doesnt try to mandate e-cars by increasing fuel prices artificially there will still be a healthy percentage of them on the streets in 10 years.why add to our pollution problem by scrapping good cars that still have useful life in them...attrition will take care of many of the gas guzzlers and junkers by itself.

It's important to consider that democratic governments tend to be a reflection of the people it governs.

You’ve described the vast majority politicians in general - liars and grifters. The difference between Trump and the rest of the monkeys in silk suits is, he at least appreciated the country that allowed him to become the things you think he is. The Progs feed on that system while simultaneously hating it. Or pretending to. To the point of writing new legislation to insure its change.

The majority really does rule and their representatives in government are promoting the values of that majority. It's not just from voting but also the disinclination to revolt.

It's the human condition. What made your country different for a while was the constitutional constraints placed on those leaders. They started eroding as soon as they were written. One of your founding fathers was asked what they had made "we've given you a Republic, if you can keep it". He knew his history, corruption is the norm, ever more corruption inevitable. The moment you give ANYONE power, it corrupts them (see the Stanford Experiment, Dr. Phillip Zimbardo.)

The lockdowns and vax mandates proved to those in power that they can force people today to do things they could not have forced them to do previously.

Exactly. They simply replaced ‘Covid restrictions’ with ‘energy reducing restrictions.’ Four months to flatten the curve!

“IEA said Western economies could reduce daily oil demand by 2.7 million barrels within four months by RESTRICTING how people drive…”

You abdicated your American freedoms for Covid. No putting that genie back in the bottle now.
