There were a couple of different photos on Corvetteblogger and another forum. Apparently the driver was at a high speed, lost control and went into some trees on the side of the road. I hazard the guess it was a colder day, and the driver learned the hard way his tires have no grip in the cold. Anyone with a Corvette needs to ease into it, not push the limits the first few weeks. It's so much more car than most people are used to that even seasoned drivers can exceed their skill level in a heartbeat. Please take time to learn your new Corvettes, especially Z06s, before showing off the performance. And even then, don't do it on the streets!

It amazes me there are not more accidents it never ceases to amaze me when I am on the highways in South Florida how stupid some drivers are. New Years Eve I was on my way to work (I am a musician) and it was a light rain which creates a condition on the asphalt referred to as "Florida oil" and some idiot tried to engage me in a race on the approach ramp to the Turnpike. New Years eve the night of extra police patrols in the rain! The Zo6 is incredible but my Stingray Z51 is already too fast for the streets.

I looked at an 06 at the dealer, and was surprised to see that the tires have almost no thread. They are almost slicks.
I have no experience driving the car, but would imagine any wet road condition would make the car lose control. It appears the tires are designed for summer/dry roads only. |
