Scratches on Front bumper...DUH
I know, its one more stupid thread. But i need help
Today morning, i parked my car at a mall and see what happened when i came back. Scratches on my front bumper. AND there is no car around me in parking lot. Can someone please help me, 1. Should i go to body shop and ask them to paint the spots 2. Is there a way to remove them by myself ( I can see the black part of the bumper already) 3. I was actually planning to get a ZL1 bumper eventually in future, is this the best time to buy it. Thanks all |

If the scratch is under 8 inches, just touch it up. Make sure to get paint code specific touch up paint from the dealership,or a bodyshops can mix some for you, etc.

looks like there is a decent gouge there, like he said above me, try touching it up, if you cant live with it, they will need to repaint the bumper.. if i was going to do that, i would say just go with the ZL1 bumper and upgrade.

I've only tried blobbing over rock chips and in my experience doing touchup seems to work better on metal than plastic though.

Oh God, I'd be at the bodyshop the next day to repaint.

Trying to touch that up will look worse than it does now.
If you're gonna buy a ZL1 bumper, do it now if you can afford it. No sense in paying to have a bumper repainted that you aren't keeping.

Yeah, ill try to do touch up and if it didnt work out. Ill go and buy a ZL1 or aftermarket bumper rather going to a body shop.

2) Remove them, no. If you're amazing with touch up paint though it might look better. For touch up to look good, often times you have to wetsand though. 3) Yup, just about the best time. Keep the bumper for practice work, like learning how to wetsand on lol.

This is like de ja vu all over again. Missing paint = Fix with more paint = done by a body shop Unless you're able to blend and feather the touch up paint, it'll will look as bad as the scratch. Best to use a professional in this case with as much paint that is missing.
