Huh, The Cancellation Threat Actually Works

Just got off the phone with XM. Got a good deal on a renewal. Just took a little patience being on hold for 15min. I currently have 6mo for $34, but it expires this month. They wanted to sell me my next 6mo for $87. I called 1-888-601-6302 and talked to a nice rep in Nova Scotia. As SOON as the words "thinking about cancelling" came out of my mouth, she offered me 12mo for $86 ($93.44 after taxes/fees), so I took it. Works out to $7.70/mo. If you need to renew your XM, take twenty minutes and save yourself 50%
This concludes this public service announcement.

Oh, and make sure to tell them you want the invoice billing (where they mail you a bill and you can mail the payment) for an extra $2 fee so they don't automatically charge your card without you knowing.

This type of thing works for most any provider such as satellite TV. Of course if you are under contract its difficult to get a lot, although you can still easily get some savings. I have three times now, under contract gotten myself some temporary monthly savings. But if your contract is nearing, you can easily save yourself some big bucks. My DirecTV contract expires next month. I'm calling and threatening to leave for Dish. Currently paying around 90ish a month. If they don't take me down to about 70 per month for the same service I will walk.

They have channels dedicated exclusively each to Elvis, Grateful Dead, and Pearl Jam yet play all 3 on their other stations, and the same songs.

I like the idea of having a 70's station and other years and formats, but they spoon feed out the crap just like the radio stations did back then, not wanting to pay for that. Went through it once already.

It's $25 + $4 royalty fee. Plus , they would not take my giftcard.

I paid 28 bucks for 6 months. You need to call them before renewal to negotiate for a better deal or else they will charge you 90+ bucks for the year.

Just a heads up to those wanting to get a better deal: I had auto-renewal for my service and ONE MONTH before my subscription ended they dinged my card $204. I called and had them reverse the charge and cancel my service. They first came at me with $56 plan, then a $25 plan thinking I would take it. I told them to turn off my radio and refund my money.

I always get the 6 for 25. i set a reminder in my calendar to call back about 3 weeks before it expires. i say im going to stop service if they dont do that deal again. I havent paid more then that for the last 3 or so years with all my cars.
