How long is the assembly process?
My TPW was 11/24, and I was told that the car was built and bayed on the 24th. I was under the assumption that the assembly process took at least a couple of days, and was told up to five days to completely assemble the car, so I was surprised to learn the car was built on the first day within 24 hours.
I'm certainly not complaining but can anyone help me to make sense of this? |

Based on what I've seen and heard while on plant tours, it takes about 2-1/2 days from the time the frame starts assembly to the time the completed car rolls off the line. That time can vary somewhat based on a number of variables such as line stops, parts shortages, etc. Your car probably started assembly some time Thursday the 20th. I think the TPW implies the week it is completed, not necessarily started, and keep in mind the TPW is just a close approximation - actual production date does move around a bit because of the many variables I mentioned earlier.

Ok thanks. That makes sense then. I thought the TPW was the week they started building the car, and I think a lot of people have that same thought. I appreciate you clearing that up for me.
