I've been using a detector for well over 20 years - all of the detector reviews have always said mounting should be as high as possible on the windshield, keeping it at the dash level reduces efficiency, buy some 100-200%. Thought I'd throw that out, I don't want to chance reducing how well it works on a ticket.

Just bought the wife a V1 for her '11 vert with a concealed display to be a little more stealth.

Nice job on the pics.

installed an escort radar detector near the mirror. used the "monster" suction cup and the hard wire they sell so no wires are cut or modified. used a fuse tap i got from auto zone. the panel up the side of the windshield just snaps right off. i pulled the screw out at the sun visor to get the wire across the top, the dome light can be removed with a trim tool. i used a plastic putty knife to push the tabs along front of light housing. just dont force it. clean job and took about an hour.

Thought this was cool for the HUD if I could stealth the actual RD...

Any of you guys in the Houston area wanna make some money!!???!! I have ZERO confidence I could do the backup camera and add the radar detector without having pieces of my Vert all over the garage and NO idea how to put it back together before my wife comes home (sounds similar to Pulp Fiction)! Sigh....

This company sells the mounts and the plug to get power from the mirror.

blendmount with smart wire set-up

wire tap is a cinch...pins pull power and ground off the onstar plug-in.
The only shortfall of the mount is lack of independent Z axis articulation...the detector has to move with the mirror mounting stem...I got it straight and where I like it. If my wife drives, it gets all screwed up.

TX - Where did you mount the concealed displayed? I'm having trouble picturing a location where it would I could see it but not think it looks out of place.

Could you post pix?

i'm in a 2012 vert. Tapped into pins 2 & 5 on the connector with regular phone cord (Valentine 1). Tinned the ends to make it easier to slide in, and mounted to the right of the mirror. I'm tall below the mirror left to big a blind spot.

Actually it's a 3 amp fuse on the piggyback connection.

The way I went with mine is mounted it on the driver side hidden behind the mirror, then ran the wire along the headliner between the liner and the windshield then down the A-puller straight to the fuse box, I used an add a fuse and piggybacked the radio display. So whenever I turn my car on the radar comes on.
