These recalls have to be costing GM a buttload of $$ (2014 Camaros recalled)

Now another 7.6 million vehicles dating back to 1997 have been recalled.

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/gm-rec...183406990.html

That includes the 2014 Camaro. "Some vehicles may not have had a 'superhold' joint fastener torqued to spec at the assembly plant.

My question is - how the bloody hell is GM still in business after so poorly mis-managing their quality assurance on these vehicles???

I think they are trying to rebuild their reputation as being a safe vehicle.

He'll if something was wrong with my car, I'd like to know ASAP, rather than just sweeping it under the rug and paying for damages. Sure, they'll take a big hit financially, but then again, they've been selling a few more cars than year's past.

Looks like the 2014 Camaro recall is lumped into all the cars built at the Oshawa plant and it only affects 117 cars...

Are you sure this isn't a stunt to make sure we Camaro Owners bring our cars in so they can take our key fobs away?

Well with the publicity of the people killed because of the ignition switch gm will recall anything and everything to save face even if it's something stupid, like a radio knob, just to not catch anymore heat.

I would think a guy named Zig Zag would be familiar with all joints. Take no offense though, I still have a zig zag tattoo from the 60's.

I doubt the keyfob would have been a recall (3 incidents?) at all if not for GM being terrified of additional fines from the gov't

...It gets every previous GM owner into the showroom....A cheese-ball defect for a re-call is probably more cost effective than advertising....lol....

They said even if someone was drunk driving they still get a minimum of one million payout... I'm sorry but anyone else see something wrong there

It's an apologetic time for many US automakers. The NHTSA stepped up its game and proved it will fry company leadership for wrongdoing. Nobody wants to be in the business of hiding potential issues. It will be interesting to see just how many recalls will come forth now that GM's been chewed up one side and down the other over the ignition switch issue.

As stated above, there was a good article on Autoblog about the (amazingly) increased showroom patronage because of the recalls. There may be some benefit to all this for the automakers.

And when you look at the financial impact; GM will march forward. Tail between its legs, but it will continue as a company.
