GT500. Would you do it?
Been watching the 2019 GT500 threads on the "dark side" forum. It is intriguing.
Would anybody else consider going Blue Oval if it is in the 700+HP range? The front end is as evil as my ZL1, I believe. |

Maybe, but given the fact the GT350 was going for $85k+ with markups...this GT500 might just be north of $100k! Which in case, no thanks!

Agreed. If it was the same price as a Z, or a little more...why not? At 50+% more...no thank you.

I love the look of the one in the pic above. Looks like it wants to eat you. I love the gen6 ZL1 except the large wavy grill keeps holding me off. I think the 1LE looks the best of the Gen6. The pic above shows a clean bassass looking car.

Sure, I’d go for it but price is a showstopper. We looked at a 17 GT350 at the local dealer (yup a 17 that was just delivered). It was a very nice car and I loved the sound and overall look (blue of course). However, it was at MSRP with the usual useless dealer junk options included and a $15K market adjustment with no discounts. To get my business, the dealer price would have to be comparable to the Camaro deals such as the option for a supplier/CU/military discount and some other loyalty type discounts. I’m sure Ford insiders could get it cheaper, but to me it was just an overpriced, end-of-model year car. If GT500 sales follow the same strategy, I’ll just keep it on the Lotto bucket list along with a bunch of other overpriced but otherwise really cool cars.

In a word “NO” lol. Not a mustang guy, and I work at a Ford dealership. My friend at work bought the GT 350 we had and I was super unimpressed on all levels after driving it. The ZL1 feels better in every way to me. 50 HP wouldn’t even tempt me. These cars can be modified fairly easily to pick up that much or more. The ZL1 just feels and looks Mad Max badass to me. The mustand looks like a euro car.

Can't wait to see it, I'm a fan of the GT350R it's just unpowered. Ford is doing the right thing with the GT500! I was always a fan of 13 & 14 GT500.
I see a few people mentioning they won't be able to afford the car, just curious would you buy the car if you could?

Absolutely not, there will always be a better ZL1 and for less money.

Nope. I just came from a GT350 and the ZL1 is a better car for my driving style.
On average, I struggle to use 1/5th of the capability of the ZL1 around here, so I don't see any need for more power. That's just me. |

I purchased a GT350 in 2016 for MSRP and I really liked and miss that car had to sell due to knee surgery can't own a clutch car anymore so with that said if the GT500 has a 10 speed Auto in it I'm in.

Not for nothin guys, the GT350 is nowhere even close to a GT500. I too was unimpressed with the GT350. I think it is complete garbage. But the GT500 will be leaps and bounds better in every aspect.
As far as if I would consider getting one...absolutely. If the price is comparable to the ZL1 or even the ZL1 1LE and if it comes with a good tire, comparable options, no markups, and looks good then I can say I'll probably trade the Hellcat in for one. Or I'll just add it to my collection, lol!! But that price is what I'm watching. Because I refuse to pay markups for anything. |
