How about a noobs corner?

For helpful tips. Maybe sticky?

My contribution:

Avoiding reposts.

A simple way to see if a question was previously ask, go to google search, type question then add site:www.camaro5.com

Example:

X pipe vs h pipe:

https://www.google.com/search?q=x+pi...obile&ie=UTF-8

I use this approach myself as the site’s search can be hit or miss...

The best thing you can do on forums is shut off age limits for posts.

What this means, is that you can then see a post when searching, no matter how old it is. Very useful for people who write how-tos, and things aren't always bumped.

Go to USERCP, under Settings & Options, click "Edit Options", then scroll down to Thread Options and under Default Thread Age Cut Off: Select "Show All Threads".

True, but I also search on 'Titles' and using the 'sites' search doesn't always show the most current ones either.

The google search, will find all those 'gems' that are missed.

I have some that have 'E85' or 'Varimax' in the title and when searching, did not find them -- even with all settings setup.

If you goto advanced, keywork Varimax, choose search titles only, search all forums

Get nothing, yet I have several that have info with Varimax

Using google:

https://www.google.com/search?q=Vari...hrome&ie=UTF-8

Finds all that have 'Varimax'

Thus, why I suggested the google search...

Good tip on the search settings though!

I wasn't offering an alternative to your method, I was just simply throwing another idea out there for the noob corner
