Do I need a tune?

I have a 2010 with 119,500 miles on it. I have a injen longtube CAI, and MRT V1 exhaust. The exhaust has been on for years, the intake is recent.

In December, GM/ dealership replaced my timing chain because I kept getting P2097 codes and they said it needed replaced. I had not had a problem until last Friday. I got the code again. It went away about 3 days later. After about 2 more days, it has come back on again.

Do I need a tune because of the injen CAI or does it need to go back to shop.

Also, I have changed the plugs just in case that was an issue.

If its the same code then you should take it back to the dealer. AND figure out why that code keeps coming back since you have had the work done to fix it.

I have a 2010 as DD and I'm roughly at 49k which makes me feel that I drove it a lot. You're almost at 120k! Wow!
A tune will probably help you clear the CEL, you should scan the car and make sure it's the same code. If it is then go back to your dealer for further diagnostics.

Question A few...

...questions...

Did GM replace the timing chain on their dime?

What was the car's mileage when they did the job?

Was the replacement related to a TSB?

Don't know whether you need a tune or not, but getting it could help you rule it out as an issue.

BTW, I think it is great that you are still driving the car. Shows courage & conviction.

What I'm curious is, how many miles were on the car when they replaced the chains? Seems to me you may have been outside of the regular warranty, but they replaced them anyways....which seems to be the common thing. Even modded cars are getting chains replaced under warranty....so this is a good thing.

As for the code, take it back for sure.

With that many miles on your car, and if you haven't been running a catch can I'm betting that girl could use some sort of upper induction cleaning. The valves are probably all gunked up, which is hurting your performance.
