It wouldn't be difficult at all to do based on structure....it's called reinforcement....it had to be done with every car that ever had t-tops (or a targa top for that matter)....they add structural reinforcement/bracing/etc to the top for a t-top model. The dumb thing is that a t-top car is actually safer in a roll-over crash than a coupe because of that reinforcement....

And, they don't have to be any smaller proportionately than any other car that has ever had t-tops.

As for f-bodies being "pretty much the only cars left with t-tops"...well, they were, until GM in its infinite wisdom decided to end that. Actually, they were the only vehicles left with t-tops. Even Suzuki stopped making them in that little sport ute thing they had.

Just one more reason to bring them back...make them even more unique, appeal to an even broader market....hell, GM would pick up extra sales because of the t-tops alone...some people would say "I was going to buy a Mustang or a Challenger, but they don't offer t-tops, so I had to go with the Camaro"....

I just can't believe they aren't even being considered.

I tell all of my friends that my t-tops are JUST like having a convertible, except it's safer and I don't have to pay for the insurance for a convertible! haha it makes them all jealous! When it's a nice day out, they're calling me wanting to "go for a ride" and then when we meet up it's like "so are we taking the t-tops out?!"

I had T-Tops on my '85 Camaro. I only had the car for a couple of months before I almost lost my license due to speeding tickets, and my insurance rates rose to the point I had to sell the car and give up driving for a few years.

The T-Tops were definitely my favorite option on the car though.

All that having been said, I really don't think the new Camaro, at least the concept design, would look good with T-Tops. Either way, I wouldn't want to risk my new baby being damaged by leaks. My old '85 now has 4 inches of water (ice in the winter) sitting in it. Glad it's not my problem anymore.

Been there done that!! Left my ttops out one nice sunny hot day and went inside to take a nap. woke up from my nap and looked outside and my jaw hit the floor! I had been asleep for like an hour or 2 and that whole time it rained it's ass off. Water was EVERYWHERE!

Come to think of it, I'd be very interested to see how they'd design them for this model. They did such a great job with every other aspect of the car, I'm sure they could come up with a beautiful merger of the classic T-Top look with modern elegance.

That being said, I seriously doubt it will be an option for the simple reason that it was not an option on the '69 and it's not a common feature of modern cars. They'd have a tough time making it clear to the general public how T-Tops fit in with their design influences.

But the Camaros and Firebirds were pretty much the only cars left with t-tops! Why let them die out?!

They'll be back...I think(I have no idea). If they do return, it won't be on this body style, though. The thing is, that this car wasn't designed for the implementation of T-Tops. Maybe if people yell loud enough, the next significantly changed model year will be.

You're right though, T-Tops had almost become a Camaro/firebird exclusive. I'd honstly rather have the full removable roof panel - but that's neither here nor there.

No t-tops on this Camaro. Who knows about later years but the structure can't handle it as far as the safety people are concerned.

And I hate to do it but...

Edit: Sorry, smokn' beat me to it. I don't want to be a jerk.

There is always a problem with leaks. Maybe they want this one to score high on JD Powers "initial quality." A T-top would endanger that IMO.

Funny how some people call it "T-tops" as if there was more than one top on the car.
