How much is too much for the street?
I've been so focused on making as much power as I can, that I blew right past my suspension and traction capabilities and now the car is useless on the street. Which is where I mainly drive it.
I've tried adjusting the BMR drag package (strange DA shocks/anti roll bar) every which way possible, have a 325/50/15 ET R tire and still cant hook in 3rd. Last week, I had to swallow my pride and install a larger pulley to lower the boost. The tune is fat and I've only seen 13psi so far (working my way up in RPM), but second gear is still not happening. How much power can you consistently put down on asphalt? and what is your suspension setup?

I only have 610 rwhp and have traction issues on the street. The temperature has to be above 70 and tire pressure lower than i want to run on the street to get good traction.
That said there is no "too much power" , the right pedal controls that. Its alwsys better to have reserve than not enough. |

I can nail it if I'm running around 40mph; otherwise, I have to roll into the throttle. I run 325/30/20 Michelin Sport Cup 2s.

This is about 50% throttle in second and then i roll into it in third, but it quickly comes loose and i let off. About 17psi in tires.
https://youtu.be/nTOkZppxqQI You cant tell in the vid, but it comes loose so much that you cant recover. Now I have it turned down enough to where its still spinning some but its going straight and you can stay in it.

Nice problem to have! But, I agree- I think it’s a corner a lot of us build ourselves into. The truth is if more attention would be made to weight, gearing, suspension, etc., there really isn’t a need for anything under the hood. These cars make plenty of power.

That depends on what you want to do. A stock engine won't get you a 10 second 1/4 no matter what you do. I wanted a well rounded car. 1g+ lateral, 10 second quarter, runs pump gas, still has AC and a back seat.

what type of rear end and gear are you running out back on the car? maybe something a tad taller is in order on the street for you.

Has anyone tried tuning the traction control tables? I added about twenty percent to those and leaving the traction control on. Spins just a little, but doesn't get out of control. This is on my Huron twin turbo manual trans car.

LMAO.... What is this traction thing you ask about...
To my knowledge there is no such thing on the street..... Coilovers, trailing arms, toe rods, bushings, etc... Nine inch with 3.07’s behind a manual transmission and breaking tires loose in any gear but 6th is as easy as putting her in boost... No clutch dump needed... Can’t do it in 6th as it’s a stock gear and can’t hang... 1-5 are billet... If I really need traction, anywhere, I dial up the ProEFI traction control and let it do its thing... It keeps the “pointy” end forward most of the time...

I have to roll into 4th. Not enough road for 5th, so I don’t know. It’s a fun problem. Makes me smile
