Anybody do PPF xpel over the flat black hood

Can the PPF be applied over the hood. I know on the challenger the hood is painted flat black but I think on the Z its wrapped. Wasn't sure if the film would look good or can even be done.
Anyone do this on theirs?

It works, I haven't done mine yet but it should be no problem. The reason I haven't done mine is the gap between the hood and front bumper cover is too small, it actually damaged the black vinyl slightly from opening and closing the hood, when it's hot it's a little worse so there's no way PPF will fit until/unless I make a slight adjustment. So be careful as it would suck to apply so much PPF and then have it tear as soon as you close the hood!

Question. What happens if you need to replace the Xpel. Do you also have to redo the black wrap on the hood. Not that it would be the end of the world. Just curious.

Almost certainly yes you would have to replace the vinyl.

Unless you went with something like this: https://www.stek-usa.com/dynoblack-matte

Thank you! I had to ask my detailer if he applied Xpel over the hood because I didn’t notice it at all lol

1. a matte black ZLE hood with matte finish Xpel looks better than the stock black hood without the Xpel, and it stays looking good while the bare wrap will stain easily and start looking bad
2. Yes if you remove the Xpel you will have to redo the underlying black wrap

My 21 is more of a satin finish, someone said they changed the material. Is yours more a satin or the flat on the 2019?
This is them applying it at LGR on my car.
