Why not? The ATS is just over 3400, which is a good 600+ off the current C5.

That's the 4cyl version.

Even the Ferrari 458 Italia is 3600lbs(at least), M3 is 3700lbs, S4 40000lbs. The C7 Corvette, which has an aluminum chassis and several carbon fiber body panels is nearly 3300lbs. The current Mustang is the lightest 4 passenger, V8 car in production and it's 3600lbs.

The lightest V8 car (excluding the Atom or similar) is the Mclaren MP4-12C, it's has a full carbon fiber chassis and it's nearly 3200lbs.

I want some of what you guy are smoking if you think the next ZL1 weighs less than 3700lbs.

Our Camaro's lead the muscle cars in stopping ability. My SS at 3860 pounds (curb weight) stops from 60-0mph in 111 feet. I like that and have always appreciated a vehicle with some heft to it. This is the first Camaro generation to receive a 5* rating for safety. I LIKE IT!

Who says there will even be a ZL1?
You don't know. None of us know for sure what the 6th Gen Camaro will be or not be...we are all guessing so at this time nobody is right or wrong...

A quick google search found this:
2.5 liter is 3,315
3.6 V6 is 3,461

The next Camaro is on a new platform. They didn't gut the Zeta. They built a whole new car. Look at the ATS for insights into the approximate weight of the new Camaro. Also, consider that the ATS is a Cadillac packed with luxury features that add to the weight. The Camaro is a Chevrolet with a lower price point and less fluff.

Problem, the picture in #20, I seriously doubt she'll fit in the trunk. Although that thong could be used to tie her up, highly suggest wearing gloves.

Then going off of that we can calculate that a 6.2L V8 would weigh around 3,600 and a 6.2L Supercharged V8 would weigh around 3,800 give or take. That's assuming the difference in trims is 100-200 LBS which is likely.

I'm also factoring in the current Camaros trim weight differences. The ZL1 jumps nearly 400lbs over the SS it's designed off of.

If you want to know what the next gen Camaro will weigh look at the current Mustang. That will give you a good idea.
