challenger vs.fire

friend of mine has a challenger SXT,2016 with about 2000 miles on it.he got into it today, put it in gear and noticed smoke and flames coming from underhood.pulled it away from his house, shut it off and bailed.car is now sitting in the middle of the street waiting for insurance adjuster, etc. to look at it before it gets towed.he says the whole front end and dashboard are melted...WTF? car was brand new, unmodified.

it was inspected and found to be a gasket on the fuel line.recalled all the challenger V8s for the problem but didnt bother with telling the 6 cylinder owners.the dealer he bought the car from keeps calling him and wanting to get him another challenger.he is pretty upset with dodge and is going to be buying a camaro when he gets the check...to tell the truth there isnt much left,im surprised they could pinpoint the cause.they had to pull it up off the road surface and scrape the melted parts off the pavement.if you havent checked about a possible recall i would, and id tell your dealer about this...just sayin.this thing went up in a hurry and got real hot,if he had a kid in a baby seat it could have been tragic.
