JEEEZZZ! CHECK YOUR PAINT!

So, last night, I watched quite a few of Junkman's washing videos, and on the clay bar segment, he explains that the clay takes the impurities out of the paint, and how to tell if your vehicle needs to be clayed. What you do is, you get a ziploc bag, put your hand in it, and just feel the paint, and if it's smooth, you're good to go, but if it feels gritty or sandpapery (should be in the dictionary) you should clay. Man oh man, I did the bag trick, and it feels like the Camaro is 300 grit sand paper. Just thought I'd let everyone know to check their paint. Supposedly, the grittiness comes from when the cars get dirty on the railcars. Here are the videos from Junkman!

The baggie doesn't lie. Just make sure you don't drop the clay on the ground. When I did mine, I set a towel on the ground where I was working, so "when" it slipped out of my hands, it fell on the towel.

I work for a railroad. The dirt they get en route isn't all that much different than what they get in daily use.

Good grief, why is it always the railroad's fault. Sheesh!

I don't know all too much, but I would work with Adams, or Meguires. Between them, I doubt there is too much of a difference, because what I think it really comes down too is spending the time to do it right, because some people aren't willing to take hours claying a car. They'll get all and until they and we all go , and no one wants that.

Then just learn how to do it, and look in the detailing section of the forums, and ask away!

Meguiar's is good, but IMO, Adam's is the best. Junkman using it, was good enough for me. I bought the works from them. 10% discount at checkout using the code, JUNKMAN

Some of these Camaro's just get more crap on the paint than others. Mine was shipped via rail to Utah. From day one it was as smooth as glass. I clay bared and waxed it last week for the first time. Nothing on the clay bar. No dark spots, specs of dirt. Nothing. Still as smooth as glass. I took delivery on June 29th, 2009.

My paint is great. Maybe it's that $20 I slipped that Dude in the paint booth at the factory....
