I get the reason Chevy had to put this in the Camaro but man I hate it! My theory is that it makes us use more gas because we give it more than 35% throttle or stay in first past 21 mph.

And you never will because you have an LT not an SS.

After I almost killed myself a couple of times the skip shift eliminator was my first mod. I see the DIC flash now and I simply give it the finger.
For those who haven't installed yet, it is a 5 min job with a floor jack. Worth every penny of the $15 shipped I paid for it. |

I've never seen any difference in MPG after installing one and have never heard anyone say they had either. I don't think CAGS lives up to the CAGS theory in the real world, but it helps save buyers from paying a gas guzzler tax.

Not to be a stickler but my manual says: 21% Throttle or less 15-19 MPH 169*F (76*C) I usually just shift at 14 MPH or below...or accelerate a little harder...definitely feels more like 21%+throttle turns it off to me..but hey maybe my foot isn't calibrated. In any case I do agree it can be a pain when it catches you off guard...

I seemed to set it off pretty frequently. And ussualy it would happen just as I was about to shift so no warning since it would flash just as I was shifting.....I'd go to grab second and nothing.
I turned mine off via tuning. Now it dosnt even pop a message up to shift to 4. While it would be worth the 20$ on a stock car.....if ur planning on tuning or buying a tuning software/interface anyway then an eliminator kit isn't needed anymore. Via tuning you can alter it a bit to keep it if you wish, you could make it more agressive even. |

And I need to look but I *thought* that it deactivated at less throttle than 35%. I could very well be wrong though.....I honestlty didn't look at the parameters that close.....

My 1990 Vette 6-speed Z51 had CAGS...I just stepped into the throttle a little more, no sweat.
