Guessing Start of Production Date
Some orders have progressed to event status 3000. The next step, 3100, could take about three weeks and another three weeks to 3400. Built (3800) usually takes place about a week after 3400. That puts us on track for an October 5 start of regular production date. These changes will be a little quicker once production ramps up to capacity when it will be about 5-6 weeks from 2000 to 3800.
Congrats to everyone making progress toward getting their orders parked in your driveway. These are my guesses and real life could easily make them wrong. Laborsmith Last edited by laborsmith; 08-19-2015 at 03:33 PM. Reason: 3800 in place of 4200 due to QC Holds |

So this would put the cars in customers hands around December? I'm ready to see the actual production start date. I was thinking people would be receiving there cars around November. Hopefully we get confirmation soon.

I am going to go with production start of September 21st. 2 weeks past the current target production date.
If they do hit their target production date we should see cars first week of November. One thing to note, Status 3000 in most cases is the longest wait as GM has to compile their full list of Camaros due to be built. The coolest thing is all cars in 3000 status are just getting in line at this point. Every week more allocation will be provided and new orders will get in line to be built. My assumption is this stage will last 2-3 weeks. Now, the only stage at this point that would be longer is the quality hold as the wait to see how production is going and hold the first wave of cars for potential fixes that may need to be applied. Now this can take awhile if they do have to go back and fix anything.

We've see some target production dates pop up on screens for September, but I'm not putting any stock in that. I say last two weeks of Sept into first week or Oct, so I agree with you guys for the most part. If they can do that, I can see the very first batches of cars hitting dealers at some point in November.

There is an automatic three week quality hold at the beginning of a model year. Off the top of my head I can not think of an exception.

is it normal for vehicles to hit this stage without a price established?

Beyond normal. But, note... the pricing is set, its a matter of them making it public. They mentioned we should see pricing within 2 weeks of CamaroFest. That timeline is now. So hopefully soon.

Two things to consider: Use it or lose it is real. If a dealer ops out of using an allocation, that slot is always offered to other dealers. This is an historical truth.
For reasons I might understand but members of this forum have already rejected, the SS will be on an informal constraint. Those who desire to obtain a V6 will have a better chance of success than anyone holding out for the V8. Not to argue against ordering a V8 but trying to say V6 builds will be assembled to match V8 builds in number even though almost 90% of customer orders will be for the V8. Be patient because V8 orders will be built even if there is a week or so wait to go forward. Laborsmith |

Will they announce when production has started? Maybe take a picture of the first one rolling off the line?

Just got the order papers from my dealer. Generated today.
I'm at status 2000 now, and should be picked up by GM on Tuesday, so hopefully will go to 3000 next week. Couple strange things 1) My Hyper Blue order says Blue me Away Metallic 2) My dealer hand wrote on the papers "build last week of Oct". Not sure how they would know that already, but whatever. I knew a few on here have gotten September projected build dates. I wonder if that has been pushed back already, or if I'm already so far back in line that my car won't be built until about a month after production begins?? Maybe this is why...b/c they will be building as many V6s to go with SS cars that have been ordered. Quote:
I'm hoping to see it tomorrow or next Monday. On Tuesday, my order goes in and it will pretty much be set in stone.
