Are 2018 2SS A8's Still Having Issues?
Hi Camaro 6,
Been reading here awhile and this is my first time posting. I've learned a lot from you all and am ready to buy my first Camaro. It was love at first test drive and hard to play it cool in front of the sales guy because I couldn't keep a straight face with a shit - eating grin the entire time I was driving. After reading and driving and reading some more, I've decided on a new 2SS, MRC & NPP, and then started down the rabbit hole of A8 problems and the shudder. Following multiple threads, I see so many of you guys with 2016/2017 year A8's with problems. My plan is to keep this car as a DD for a long time (I have a 90-min highway commute to work through twisty roads) so avoiding that issue altogether is of course ideal. But what I can't find, is info on whether people are still having the problems with their 2018's. So long story short, are the 2018's finally fixed since I can't seem to find posts complaining of the A8 TC/shudder issues and safe to go purchase, or do I need to wait for the refresh? |

Hey man I’ve been trying to get an answer to that question for awhile myself, for what it’s worth I have about 1,100 miles on my 2018 2SS with the 8 speed auto and so far she’s driving like a dream. I am getting ready to the change out the diff fluid though as to try to prevent some issues in the long run.

Mine is a 17’ 2SS a8. No problems at all. Remember you here more about the bad news than the good. I have no doubt that people are having problems. But I can guarantee they are the minority. I haven’t had any of the 17’ problems. And I’m sure as they go along they try to fix problems that come up. Better to fix it on the line than at the dealer. The 2018 are going to be even more trouble free. I wouldn’t wait because of issues. Unless you think the refresh is going to make a big deal to you go for it. To me the generation change is a bigger deal than a refresh.

I'm leaning towards going for it, but I've never been great in the patience department. |

I was under the impression more 2016s than any year had the TC problem . My 2017 with 18k on the clock is problem free and I beat the hell out my a8 at the track and on the street . 1.67 60fts and 11 second Ets and the tranny still pulls like a Raped ape and bangs through the gears !

2017 started having the shutter issue at 4100 miles. Triple trans fluid flush and so far (4800 miles) no issue. Hoping it will not show up again but dealer said TC would be replaced if it does.
