So you could say things are getting pretty serious...

Was demolishing the ContiDW's in ESP...upgrade time.

Enkei Raijin 18x9.5 +35 wrapped with Toyo Proxes RR in 275...and finally, with magnets! Had been using tape up until now for some reason.

I guess to provide feedback on the install I had to coax the front spindle a tiny bit in lieu of self-clearance, but outside of that it all bolted in, even cleared the brakes. If you're wondering why I didn't go wider this car is eventually losing street status to run in NASA American Iron. I'm getting accustomed to the setup ahead of time. Rules say spec tire is a Toyo Proxes RR or RA1, up to 18" dia, 9.5" width, 275 width at a max track of 76.5"..with these I'm basically right at the limit of everything.

General consensus on these is they're a nice "middle of the road" slick that will outlast most other R-comps and even 200TW tires...and in this size @284 each they're ballpark with your RE71R or Rival for cost and far cheaper than an R7.

I've got an event next weekend, I'll report back with how she does. I'll probably get flack for this but I took it out on a back road 1/2 mi from my house to shake it down and it compliments the Z28 suspension very well.

Thanks all! I'm excited for Sunday. The diameter is a bit smaller than the OE Z28 setup. (275/35R18 v 305/30R19). I think the plan is to add the Z28 fender trim and side skirts and blend it into a massive front splitter because racecar. We'll see how that goes.

So this setup is nuts...on a 50 s course, I dropped 3 seconds off my previous time immediately, then my stock brake fluid began to boil and my times started ratcheting back up. Pedal was to the floor and the braking distance was dramatically increased. After things had cooled down the feel was much better. I anticipated this to happen and had planned to upgrade, but not during autocross. Guess I'm doing that sooner than expected.

Overall feedback is great. Very good bang for buck. My alignment would be considered mild street and tire pressures right in a good range for my driving style.

Camber:
F/R - 1.5, -1.0
Toe:
F/R 1/16" out, 1/16" in
Caster: ??? Can't measure easily with my current tools.
Hot Tire Pressure F/R: 40/38 psi

Toyo setup sheet says high 30's low 40's for pressure, so I'm ballpark there. However, they recommend -2.5 to -5 deg of camber. We'll see how it does once I build some more camber into the car.

The tires have a ton of grip, on center feel is good. Peak grip once loaded up is very good. Like many slicks the tires don't talk to you as much, but the limit was actually pretty clear despite lack of noise. Just something to get used to. Thumbs up!

did you feel a good difference in acceleration when switching from 20s to 18s?

Yeah, it was fairly substantial. Going from a 28.7" tire to a 25.6", it still hooked up prettymuch everywhere. Z28 suspension, stock rubber subframe bushes, stock 3.45 LSD. Thing is a rocket. Was debating also going to the Z28/1LE 3.91 rear but I might hold off on that lol
