sluggish in hot weather. what helps?

I purchased my 2011 LS3 SS last august. It was bone stock and I do not drive it all that me much. Weekend cruiser and Friday work commutes. So blasts to and from work came in the morning before it got hot and usually the commute home was in traffic with AC on.

Over the fall/winter/spring I added an APEX scoop and washer relocate, CAI INC intake, catback and diablosport tune. I noticed a nice difference and really felt this car pull hard on some of our nice 50 degree winter days.

Yesterday it was 95 degrees out and I went to a friends house for a pool party. A guy there is on the fence about a 5th gen so before I had any beverages we took the car for a rip. He thought it was fast but it felt so sluggish to me. Throttle response felt poor and just slower over all going through 1st and 2nd. This was one of the first times where I really hammered on the car in the middle of a very very hot florida day.

I know when I had my 06 GTO the LS2 had heat soak issues, and I added a Vector Motorsports heat soak reduction kit, which moved the IAT sensor from the MAF to being housed inside my actual cone air filter. Really helped the throttle response and stuff during hot days.

Is there anything we can do for our camaros and the LS3 to help it out when it is sucking in 95 degree swamp air!

The only time mine felt even a little sluggish was last summer at Reno. Elevation and heat. Driving through Socal in 100+ temps didn't bother it. I'm running a CAI cold air induction and Stainless works Long tubes and exhaust. If just a cold air intake doesn't help you could try a methanol injection kit.

I know this isn't an answer to your question, but volunteering a possibility: If dude was big, he can easily add 10% in weight to the payload the car is pushing around. That alone can make a big difference in lag.

I guess to add to that. He was prob 250ibs. AC was off.

that prolly was it, You had a above average passenger and it weighed the car down a bit, every car will suffer from that.

I suppose 250ibs and 95 degree humid air could combine for a noticeable difference.

I have a set of catless mid pipes sitting in the garage. I need to throw those on and get retuned. That should hello combat any large passengers!

There is no getting around it heat, humidity and higher elevations hurt power. Think about the poor guys with SS's in Denver, they must feel like their driving a V6 around.

How about a good cold air intake! Just a thought. These cars love cold air & every little bit helps.

I have an APEX scoop and washer bottle relocate kit and a CAI Inc cold air intake. Arguably one of the best set ups there is I believe.

Heat and humidity can actually rob you of 30+ hp....headers will make up for that loss.

Even with headers i've been feeling sluggish in the heat. I thought because i had 60,000+ miles i would throw in some deep fuel system cleaner(Lucas) in my tank for the first time and it helped somewhat.

Did you check the Mass air flow sensor when you got your new intake.
Bad sensor can cause sluggish condition
